Mizzou to Big 10, negative ramifications for ISU?

    According to Jon Miller:

"If Missouri joined the Big Ten, the negative ramifications to Iowa State would be considerable..."

What does everyone think of that? I don't know if that is the case, it would mean ISU and NU are the only teams really in the "North".

I honestly don't see what it really has to do with Iowa State...

Well, I think it would have some ramifications, because we would have an original Big 6 member bolting, and it could mix things up on that stead. It is a "rivalry" game, sort of. I would rather see a Texas team leave the Big 12, or maybe 4 of them.

I honestly don't see the Little 11 asking Mizzou to join them.

I don't really see it either...I feel like they'll try to go more high-profile than that. And don't they always talk about some high academic standards? Does Mizzou really fit that mold? I mean, people say ISU wouldn't make it in for that reason...I guess I don't see Mizzou being a superior academic institution...

Missouri will not leave the Big 12. The only people who seem to think Missouri will actually leave are Big 10 homers such as Jon Miller. Miller has a right to be since Iowa is in the Big 10, just as I for the Big 12. Missouri doesn't fit in the Big 10. I could see Cincinnati joining. That move makes sense in a lot of ways for the school. Missouri joining makes no sense at all.

I don't know what your measuring stick is for being in the "North." From a geographical standpoint and from a Civil War standpoint Kansas would have to be considered to be in the "North" if Missouri gets that distinction.

Hmmm, lets talk about something that won't happen for at least 2 years.

From a financial standpoint and from a rivalry standpoint it may make sense for Missouri to bolt to the Big 10.

Really? As of right now any north team other than Neb. would be silly not to consider this, for $$$ and people across the nation being able to see every game.
ISU gets nothing everytime a south school gets on TV but the big 10 has across the board revenue sharing for any TV coverage

If the Big Ten has its choice, I do not believe Missouri will be it. However, to say they would never leave the Big 12 means you are either young or have a short memory. I believe it was in the mid-90's they came right out and said they wanted out and they, along with Colorado, who in the past has flirted with the PAC-10, have been dissenters against the other former Big 8 members on a number of issues.

Never thought about the shared income. I still don't see them taking Missouri. Schools like Cincinnati would be the teams that I see joining. I use Cincinnati because I know the Big 10 is strongly considering them They would be easy to get. They are not playing in the NC game because of the conference they play in. The Big East is only considered a BCS conference because when they made the BCS, Miami and Virginia Tech were in the conference. Big East is considered a weak conference, therefore a team going undefeated is or losing 1 game, is considered a lesser team to a school in the Big 10, 12 , SEC, and Pac10 with 1 or 2 losses. If they were to go undefeated in the Big 10, there would have been a decent chance they bumped Texas out of the NC game this season.
