    John Frusciante leaves RHCP...

John Frusciante Has Left Red Hot Chili Peppers? | News @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

This really sucks. One of my all time favorite guitar players. Their best work has been with him at the helm. IMO, they should call it quits without him.

That blows, but it was only a matter of time. At least we got Californication/By the Way/Stadium Arcadium out of the deal. I don't know much about that Josh Klinghoffer guy...thoughts anyone??

Does John have another Heroin addiction to tend to. That was the problem last time. Also over touring. I can't read the article. Why did he quit this time?

I really hope not. From the article it sounded like he was just tired of the whole stadium rock scene and wanted to do some experimental recording on his own. Apparently he has been "checked out" for a while now and the other guitarist I mentioned above has been recording with the band at least temporarily. Never know with that guy though, he is definitely an interesting personality.

I agree that they made some great music with Frusciante on guitar, but I was always a huge fan of the "One Hot Minute" album with Dave Navarro. I know I am in the minority when I say this, but to me that album represents exactly what RHCP is all about. You have the slow, sad ballads in "My Friends" and "Tearjerker." There are hard rock songs like "Warped" and "Coffee Shop." Traditional Chili Pepper funk with "One Big Mob" and "Falling into Grace." And finally, just plain goofy with "Aeroplane" and "Pea."

I consider myself to be a huge RHCP fan, and have followed them since the early 90's, and in my opinion One Hot Minute is their best album.

That being said, John Frusciante will be sorely missed.

Shame on you Al. Hillel Slovak on Catholic Schoolgirls Rule is the single best guitar on any Red Hot's record.

Yeah, JF is fantastic. They'll make more records together, bank on it.

Wonder if John is just sick of playing songs about California?

    Re: John Frusciante leaves RHCP...

I've been hearing about this for about a month. I'm betting he'll be back in after awhile. I think he just gets bored.

John didn't get addicted to heroin until he quit the band the first time. Josh Klinghoffer was touring with the Peppers on the last tour, playing guitar with them on a few songs. He's a good friend of Frusciante's and has been on John's solo albums. I know there is a video on youtbe of them playing Readymade with Josh.

I like Dave Navarro, but I like him with Jane's Addiction. Hillel Slovak and John Frusciante are the only two guitarists that should ever play with the Peppers.

I know John has been working with a lot of different artists lately. There was an interview with a guy from the Wu Tang Clan talking about working with Frusciante.

    Re: John Frusciante leaves RHCP...

I'm also in the group that really likes One Hot Minute, so I'm not giving up hope for the new album, but I REALLY like what Frusciante does with RHCP. His solo stuff on the other hand, is not something I'm a huge fan of.

I might get crucified for this, but I found Hillel Slovak's guitar work to be repetitive in comparison to JF. I like his stuff, but Frusciante is another level in terms of expressiveness, IMO.

    Re: John Frusciante leaves RHCP...

Josh K has toured with them in the past when john has left and came back and so forthe. Josh played for Gnarls Barkley when they came to wells fargo. I like John think he is an amazing musician but he is not trustworthy and someone you can't count on he would make a better solo man. RHCP needs a member who is in it for the long haul for the band to keep moving forward.

Agree. The "One Hot Minute" album gets dogged, but it really is a great album. Also, Frusciante has some good solo work, though it's vastly different from most of the Peppers' stuff.
