Anybody ever just skip a final?

So today I have been studying for my physics final all day... looked at the final exam schedule and it says 9:45 am tomorrow.

I get a call from a lady friend saying "YESSSS WE ARE DONE!" and being that I met her through physics and that is the only class she is in with me... I was instantly alarmed. Come to find out.. the class is a large lecture class and does not follow that schedule. I rarely attend lectures, and when I do I pay little attention....

    as;djfasdghajdgljasfldjweoitj nnvnxcv,afdanwenavma/.svmnorwgjidfsapdsfjapdfjwp!!!!

    I'm an idiot.

The professor already posted an answer key.

anyone else ever run into this?

I slept through one once... Not sure it would have mattered at the time, I pretty much stopped going to that class after the first couple weeks.

I did the same thing during the spring semester in 2008, fortunately, I had the Angel of Mercy, Shoba Prehmkumar (sp?), who let me take it later on.

Send the prof an email as soon as you can explaining the situation. Since its a large lecture, they will likely have an alternate exam that you can take. Good luck.

Re: Anybody ever just skip a final?

Sophomore year I slept through half of my ChemE 310 final. Ran across campus in shorts and sandals. Got there and ended up finishing before anyone who had been there the entire time. Turns out I got one of the highest grades on the final. Guess all the studying rather than sleeping payed off.

I could see that happening, however, since she already posted the answer key, I would actually be surprised if they allowed that.

still you're better off telling truth (and making them laugh, cuz this is pretty damn funny) than making up some bs excuse

Yeah, tell the truth, but I've known some professors that would still say, "well, you're SOL..." It just kind of depends on the professor I guess. And sense the answer key has already been posted, I'm leaning towards the side of being SOL.

maybe but at this point you have no other choice. better off making them laugh/feel sorry for you, and hope for the best. good luck sir.

edit: i'd say i was sick the review day or whatever and was told by a friend to go by the normal university exam schedule

Re: Anybody ever just skip a final?

I emailed my professor and TA both when i got the call and explained exactly how it happened.

All I can do now is just study more I guess..

This really chaps me because this was my last final and I could be hammered right now.

Does this final carry a lot of weight on your final grade? Is it between passing and failing the class? Or, is it the difference between an "A" and a "B"?

Re: Anybody ever just skip a final?

I did that once as well. I explained it to the prof and he kindly agreed to let me take it the next morning. Well I ended up sleeping through my alarm the next morning, and was late for the makeup final! He wasn't where we were agreed to meet, and I found him in his office. He kinda rolled his eyes at me but let me take the test. Definitely send your prof an email or go to his/her office asap! I always found they were willing to help out when asked.

I missed other tests as well, but only the one final.

And yes, going to class is STILL overrated.

I havent figured that much out.... but it is probably the difference between a b- and a D in a class where a c- is required.
