My questoin is how the hell did that Alabama running back. The kid who just won the Heisman trophy. Make it out of the state of Michigan.

He was a 3 star coming out of school. That's why these rating deals are a little bogus. Throw in that a good line can have more to do with how good a runningback does then him individually.

Well obviously the rating system isn't going to be 100% correct in all cases. There is plenty of statistical variance and obviously the smaller the sample size you have the more variance there will be. Looking at one player there is a huge amount of variance. Look at 50 players and the variance will shrink and look at 200 and it will shrink more.

On top of that, Sam Bradford was only a two star.

All in all, some of these "lower rated" people come in to college with something to prove and they become great players because of it. Some of the higher rated players come and expect to play becuase thats how they had it in high school and didn't need to try as hard to keep there spot on the starting lineup. I think the ratings do show how much skill a person has, but the will to drive them to become better cannot be rated.

It would be one thing if the kid ended up at say Iowa State and everyone missed on him. It's another with football giant Alabama coming up and getting him. So the star system might not have worked right with him but every college coach knew who he was. Oh yeah and Alabama, The field goal was good cheaters.

michigan has WAY more d1 talent than iowa does. notice they have a top 35 from michigan and we have a top 10. they are the top team (historically) in the state we are not. they are michigan. i.e. big 11 championships, bcs games, national titles. we are iowa state, winners of the insight.com bowl...once

And Dion Lewis, the phenom true freshman running back at Pitt, had offers from Pitt, Miami(OH) and Tulane.

The rating people miss great players all the time.
