Harbuagh Turns Down Kansas - Officially

    News from The Associated Press

According to the Associated Press, Harbaugh has firmly stated that he will remain as Stanford's head football coach.

Additionally, Cardinal A.D. Bob Bowlsby said in an email to the AP that Harbaugh has signed a contract extension that's been awaiting his signature for nearly a year. Reports in the past have indicated that the deal Harbaugh had signed would be worth $1.25 million annually; it's believed, based on our sources, that Kansas was prepared to offer Harbaugh a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.75 million.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Good for him and for Stanford, I was really going to question his critical thinking ability if he made a move from Stanford to KU. The guy has a great thing going there!

Why would you walk away from a good job at a great school in sunny California for a ho hum position in Kansas?

Maybe Kansas will get a good coach but I think they made a mistake getting rid of Mangino.

Now they seem to think the next person in line to have the "privilege" to coach at KU is Tommy Tuberville...

I think they should prepare to be disappointed again.

News stories have likely spooked off Harbaugh and Gill. Sumlin is not interested in the job, and interviewing with Cincy. Butch Jones still is getting an interview at KU. Another name up there is Skip Holtz.

I'm just as big of a PAC 10 fan as a Big 12 fan. I'm glad that at least one of these two Conferences is getting some top notch coaches. I would still like to see Kansas attract a good coach. Right now the Big 12 North is pitiful and it won't get better without having good coaches at the helm.

I haven't followed the Kansas job too closely, what happened to them thinking they would get Turner Gill?

Re: Harbuagh Turns Down Kansas - Officially

If they want a person from a BCS conference it will have to be a DC or OC...period...end of story.

Their only chance at a "name" hire will be to pull a guy out of retirement like Tubberville, Fulmer, or Bowden, but I think those guys are smarter than that to think KU can sustain FB success.

KU is going to be bottom of the B12N for the forseeable future IMO.

I hope Harbaugh stays there for a while. It's nice seeing a few good teams out of the Pac-10. Especially one that can beat USC.

He must have eyes on some other job. Or hes cut a lot differently than most coaches. That was a big increase to turn down!
