    2006 Coaching Search

It's crazy thinking back to the potential candidates from our 2006 coaching search. The legitimate candidates were:

Kelly - All but announced as ISU's next coach. Took Cincinnati to the next level and 2 straight BCS games. Overall record of 34-6. Accepted Notre Dame job.

Harbaugh - turned around Stanford from one of the worst programs to more than respectable in 3 years. Rumored to take the KU job.

Brewster - is the turd of the bunch but he has won more games at Minnesota than we have here.

Chizik - While his record here was junk, he still somehow parlayed it into the Auburn job which is a top 25 program.

That's not a bad bunch of candidates.

Brewster is from the same mold as Zook and Callahan.

They all are great recruiters and talk a big game, but give them enough time and they'll run the program into the ground.

    Good Followup.

And to think that Chizik was considered the best of the Bunch "at the time".

wasn't the reason that Kelly wasn't the head coach is because ISU wouldn't wait and he wanted to see if Michigan St. job opened?

As seen with Cincinnati, Kelly is just like Chizik. Goes to a "small time" school and then leaves as soon as a bigger opportunity opens. Not sure if Kelly would have had more success at ISU than Chizik did since he would have been implementing a new offense just like Chizik tried to do.

Foremost difference being the 2 BCS Bowls Kelly made. As opposed to Chizik having only 1 accomplishment which was beating Iowa on only field goals.

Which DB will be the first to scream "FIRE POLLARD" in this thread, there are plenty to pick from on here. They probably went one whole day without saying it... now you just ruined it.
