    Gift Help - Steak knives

Need some help on getting steak knives for a gift. I have a $50 limit and want to get a set of 8. I want good ones, but don't know if $50 will buy a good set. Anyone have any recommendations of what brand/style and where to go? Thanks in advance!

I'm betting you won't get that good of a set for $50. The one thing I remember being told about knives though, make sure the metal of the blade extends all the way through the handle and isn't actually two separate pieces. This prevents the knife blade from snapping off and is a good, easy indicator of quality.

A good "budget" brand is Chicago Cutlery. I own the wood handle style but they also make stainless steel and polymer handled ones. You can find them and the bed & home stores as well as Target. The metal of the blade does extend throughout the handle. Reasonable price, quality made, and sharp.

I have Chicago Cutlery knifes and they are some of the best knifes I've ever owned. Nice and sharp and very well made.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Re: Gift Help - Steak knives

We just bought a 10pc Chicago Cutlery set in a wooden block that included four steak knives at the Corningware Corelle Factory store in Williamsburg(Tanger Outlet) a couple weeks ago for $50.00. The only thing I didn't like was that the steak knives were serrated. I hate serrated steak knives because they tear the meat instead of making a smoot clean cut.
They did have sets that were just the steak knives to for great prices. Good luck.

We have some chicago cutlery as well with a few higher end blades mixed in. For a true test, this is what you do. Go into their ware isle with a can and a tomato, test every blade.
