    Albums of the Decade...

If we're going to do "Albums of the Year" might as well do "Albums of the Decade"...

Again, in no particular order, and of course, just my 2 cents...

-Wilco "A Ghost is Born": Everyone talks about "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot", but this album is far more intense

-Pearl Jam "S/T": One of the greatest rock bands of the past 20 years regains their gusto, and kicks you right in the ***.

-Red Hot Chili Peppers "Stadium Arcadium": Yeah, this album might have been overplayed, but those sweet melodies and Hendrix-esque guitar freakouts aren't going out of style any time soon.

-The Hold Steady "Boys and Girls in America": Craig Finn's vocals might turn some people off, but you can't argue with the riffs.

-Ryan Adams "Gold": This album covers so many bases that it's hard to pin down. The one common thread is great, classic songwriting.

-Drive-By Truckers "Decoration Day": An absolute monster of an album. One of the most powerful albums you'll ever listen to, from both a sonic and emotional standpoint

-Green Day "American Idiot": Again, overplayed, but I'll never forget the first time I listened to this. It might sound corny, but to me, this album really struck the nerve of what it was like to be young and unsure of the future in 2004.

-Queens of the Stone Age "Songs for the Deaf": The definition of "desert rock". It just rocks balls.

-White Stripes "Elephant": The one where Jack White showed us he could play guitar.

-The Raconteurs "Consoler of the Lonely": The one where Jack White proved he was a straight up guitar god/musical genius.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Let's just say that that album was the preferred music choice for altered mental states that summer...

    Eek.

I would put Lateralus over 10,000 Days and it took me a long time to come around to the conclusion that Lateralus was as good as the critics said.

10,000 Days always felt like Lateralus musically but with the cohesiveness of Aenema.

This album is amazing, as is Spoon's previous album, Gimme Fiction. Love it.
