IC Press-Citizen article on the Twister Sisters

Here's a pretty good article on tonight's ISU-Iowa game. The Press-Citizen almost never mentions the Cyclones unless they're playing the Hawkeyes, but when they do, it's typically rather good writing. No spin here.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

No reason to cover a team that no readers of the publication care about.

""I look at their roster; I see one freshman in the lineup," Bluder said" Look again. The article also talks about Prins without mention of her health. The last information I saw suggested she wouldn't be playing. It would help if that changed.

I'm from Iowa City, grew up there, and occasionally when I get back to see the folks, I've been pleasantly surprised to see ISU coverage in the PC, even if it's an AP story.

Growing up it was a different story; seriously I didn't know the diff bt. Iowa State / Coe / Drake.

Wrong. About two years ago, I saw an estimate of 11,000 Cyclone fans and/or ISU alumni living in the Iowa City metro. I don't recall if that was from our own information office, or from some outside source, but I would say that was about right. It's between 11,000 and 14,000.

I'm from Iowa City as well. The PC basically never mentions the Cyclones in any form, even AP articles. I honestly don't remember any stories in the last 2.5 years talking about Cyclones outside the context of competing against the Hawks in some impending matchup. The last story I can recall was when we announced the hiring of Chizik- the PC ran a short blurb from the AP story.

And you're right- prior to my college search, I knew basically nothing about any school except the UI and UNI. I vaguely knew the ISU was out there, and was the Cyclones, but didn't know jack squat about the school or the sports teams.
