    BF?

    BF > GM?

And I don't mean does BF do a better job with his program than GM. That is indisputable.

Would BF have this year's MBB team playing better than GM? I am serious. No jimlad.

Maybe we make him the NCAA's first dual coach?

    Re: BF?

While Bill is a hell of a coach I am going with what has been previously stated.

His coaching acumen may not translate over to the men's game. Not Xs and Os but how he handles his players.

You never see a successful women's basketball coach make the transition over to the men's game. Why? I don't know.

Completely different style of play? Look at the difficulties GMac has had just transitioning from a mid-major style to big conference style in the men's game. I like to watch the WBB team, but there is a big difference in physicality and style. BF would basically have to unlearn his coaching style and start from scratch.

    Re: BF?

Having watched a lot of women's basketball over the years women are equally as good of shooters if not better than men when it comes to free throw shooting and three point shooting. While it is certainly the case at Iowa State the same can be said at all most all of the other top notch women's programs as well. The women's game just isn't as fast paced or as physcial as the men's game.

I'm not saying they aren't. But you have to admit that there is more of an emphasis on jump shooting in the offensive style, at least when looking at BFs teams, than what you would typically see from a men's team.

    Re: BF?

One things for sure, if Fennelly ever made the switch (which he never will I'm sure) we'd have one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the country I'm sure. Actually, despite the past 3 games we still are tied for 4th in the country in 3pt% at 44.8%.

    We're 74th in rebounding though

BF's teams seem to get so many wide open looks behind the 3-point arc. It's absolutely amazing. Every time I go to a women's game I'm like how in the heck are they doing that. Lucca would go off for 48 points every night if he was on the women's team.

    Re: BF?

The thing I worry most about with BF is that he was very close to McCarney and was very upset when he was let go. I think his relationship with Pollard was on very shaky ground for a long time after that and who knows it may still be. I think he has also grown very close with McDermott and I am afraid if Pollard fires McDermott that BF may leave also. I was always on the Pollard bandwagon but after the disaster of the hiring that Chizik turned out to be and McDermott not working out at all right now I am having serious doubts about Pollard as well.

Do we need to schedule a Rhoads and Fennelly man-date?

    Re: BF?

Fennelly basically has what is a lifetime contract here, he's not leaving. Second I think McDermott's contract runs several more years as well and I doubt we can afford to fire him after this year and buy that out and still be able to afford to pay the going rate for a proven coach.

In all seriousness Bill would be a better coach than Mac for mens basketball.

I think he'd either be better or worse. I'm not sure which.
