WSU is a good to VERY good VBall school. WSU will leave it all on the floor, ISU will need to match that effort.

The overall #6 seed, Washington, was upset by unseeded Colorado State last night. We need to bring our A game.

Hopefully the home floor will help keep them up for this match.

I may be mistaken but this may be the first time that ISU is the favorite in the second round of the NCAA tourney. A little different deal deal than being a dog with no pressure.

This kind of makes me even more upset about the draw we got.

It was at Fort Collins, though. I wonder why such a high-seeded team had to travel.

Ooh that is interesting. That was a pretty early draw for them. I guess we should count our blessings. After we beat Nebraska and Texas, I guess we won't complain.

Am I reading the schedule right? No Clone Zone coverage for WSU?

p.s. Any ideas about whether UNI has a shot at Nebraska?

There is Clone Zone tonight (free, per NCAA rules).

UNI has an uphill climb, but they haven't lost since the ISU match in September. Confidence and scrappy play (two familiar components for ISU) can go a long ways.

Volleyball is still very much regional for NCAAs, in order to keep travel costs down. Washington was an outlier geographically. Colorado State has a history of hosting, too.

The rest of that region is laughable.

#3 Florida State (ridiculous seed) plays at home.
#6 Washington goes on the road and loses in round 2.
#11 Minnesota goes on the road and has to beat host Tennessee to get back to Minneapolis.
#14 Oregon goes on the road and has to beat host Kentucky to get to the regionals.

No, "geographical considerations" are only in effect for the unseeded teams (i.e - not the top 16). The top 16 can be sent anywhere across the country.

It's cheaper to fly 2 teams to Colorado than fly 3 teams to Washington.

Additionally, schools actually have to bid to host. I assume Washington did, but if CSU's bid was higher (i.e., more $$$ to the NCAA), that also plays a role.
