    Nebraska/Texas and the consequences

If Nebraska wins isn't Iowa out of the BCS? That means no Phoenix for Iowa and that means no dual bowl game for Iowa/ISU fans in that area. Would that affect ISU's shot at the Insight then?

If Texas wins then Iowa will be in Phoenix and the Insight people might look at ISU a little more then?

    Sound right?

Not sure Iowa is a lock yet for the Fiesta. Its a tough call between them and PSU.

Just the opposite...if Nebbie wins, you can pretty much pencil us into the Insight because only us and A&M would be left to choose from. A Texas win makes it a toss-up between us and Mizzou.

    Re: Nebraska/Texas and the consequences

Agree that Iowa is still not a lock for the Fiesta. Yes, a Nebraska win knocks Iowa (and PSU) out of the Fiesta picture. B12 would get an at-large team (Texas) into the BCS rather than the B10 (Iowa/PSU). I don't think it affects our Insight chances much. I don't think we're tied to Iowa's chances as much as everyone wants to believe, but more importantly the second BCS bid bumps everyone up a notch in the B12 selection order.

Better chance that a Nebraska wins knocks Boise State out. A Nebraska-Iowa/Penn State matchup would be intriguing.

So are we COMPLETELY out of the Independence??? Just curious as I have rooms booked for both Houston and Tempe and have tried to not even think about a trip to Shreveport...

    Re: Nebraska/Texas and the consequences

I guess I didn't think about if Neb wins it mean Neb and Tex to BCS, then bumping up the rest of the Big 12 a notch.
There are some huge implications on Iowa and ISU from this game.
I guess I would just think Iowa would get picked over PSU. I know PSU has a good traveling history but Iowa has a ton of people who would go to that game.

I don't think the game will impact ISU. I think we are in Tempe with either result.

    Iowa on the other hand....

    Re: Nebraska/Texas and the consequences

I thought that Pat Harty said that the Hawks were going to the Cap-One bowl and that PennState was going to the fiesta bowl...

It really has no bearing on where ISU ends up anyway....Each of these teams have to carry their own water!!!!

Let this mizzou fiasco be a warning to all you fair weather fans...Ya better go to whatever bowl selects you (& not shun the alamo bowl like mizzou)....and show up in droves with money in hand and a smile on your face...

I know this is history...but I actually me and the wife went to the Peach bowl in 1977 in atlanta ga...24,000 cyclone fans showed up and the Peach bowl/ atlanta ga people loved us for our support...Most of us tipped with two dollar bills and I had a cab driver tell me that he had never seen so many two dollar bills floating around atlanta....
