Please continue to write and lobby for our troops! Below is what I wrote.

    Dear Mr. Junker:

I am an Iowa State graduate living and working in St Louis, MO. In this struggling economy, I can assure you that a strong fan support from Iowa State will contribute plenty to your esteemed event. 20,000 fans have traveled to Insight bowl after years of no post season bowl in 2000. Just imagine how hungry and emotional the cyclone fans have been after coach McCarney’s exit with back to back losing seasons followed by the betrayal of coach Chizik who never called the players before taking off on a plane for the Auburn job. You can see our emotion in our 9-7 victory at Nebraska as well as in the YOU TUBE post game locker room video of our head football coach Paul Rhoads.

You will not meet a persistent fan base like Iowa State anywhere. It does not matter how much they call Ames, IA a “grave yard” for football coaching. We could be mediocre, but we show emotion, contribute and show utmost loyalty to our players, our school and our coaches. (I live 6 hours away from Ames, IA and I have made it to every home and (some) away games for Iowa State this season. I hit a deer on the interstate in the process too but that’s irrelevantJ)

We look forward to hearing your decision this Sunday.

    Thanks.

Never tell someone outside the Cyclone family that we are mediocre in anything, other than our feeling toward the University of Iowa.

You highlight too many negatives in your letter.

I think most people on this site, myself included, have no business writing emails to these people because they almost always sound terrible. Why would you say that we might be mediocre? Aren't you trying to sell ISU to them? And the deer thing? He's not your uncle.

Yep. Plus you "guarantee" ISU ticket sales when you are obviously not in a postion to do so. And you don't guarantee what you can do -- if you're going to write to Mr. J, at least tell him that you will be there.

And by the way, McCarney's exit did not follow back-to-back losing seasons. He had a losing record in 2006, his last season. It was preceeded by winning records in 2004 & 2005.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
