    Tunnel South of Hilton

I am new to this board so maybe this has been discussed already, however, why doesn't someone do something to spruce up the tunnel leading to Hilton? It is a tradition of mine to walk through the tunnel regardless as to where I park. Its just what Ive always done. Its really cool to see all the people packed into the tunnel trying to get to and from games. Why not commission some of the art students at ISU to paint murals ect. pertaining to ISU basketball in the tunnel? I think this would be cool for visiting teams to be able to see some of the history we have at ISU as well as ISU fans reliving past glory. I cant imagine that the cost of this would be much and it would help spruce up the drab concrete walls. I noticed that the parking lot had a lot of past ISU logos painted on them (which is awesome btw), why not a permanent painted tunnel? I cant think of one reason not to.

In the plan they drew up for the ISC a couple years ago, i believe it may have been discussed removing the raised road the tunnel goes under.

Just write the check and I am sure the issue would be addressed.

Visiting teams would never see it. They load/unload on the east side of the arana.

How do you ensure that there won't be graffiti over a mural? If there's nothing to deface, the likelihood of vandalism goes down.

The logos painted in the parking lot were probably from Homecoming, when one lane next to C6 was decorated by various Greek groups.

I just can't believe you would go out of your way to visit the tunnel... Seems strange.

    Re: Tunnel South of Hilton

I dont think there would be much in the way of graffiti always a chance however. Kinda the same w/ everything that is outside and not watched 24/7. I dont actually go to far out of my way to go to the tunnel, I like 90% of fans are kinda funneled that way or have to walk over the hump/hill/road. Just was saying it would be pretty cool for students or local artist to do.

Yeah, I think that the plan was to renovate that whole plaza area south of Hilton including the tunnel and road. Not much need to mess with it right now.

    Re: Tunnel South of Hilton

Need to fix the railings and light fixtures before we get fancy. I bring my 5-year old daughter to some of the games and I carry her from the bottom of the steps up to the door many times because what remains of the pillars is turning to stone dust. Still nothing more beautiful than Iowa State Center at night.
