    Brackins doesn't like contact

It is pretty obvious that Craig is way more comfortable shooting his mid range jumpers than mixing it up in the paint. I heard all week how he was going to be more aggressive and take it to the hoop against UNI. I sure didn't see that last night. A player of his caliber should be shooting 8-10 free throws a game.

Craig shot 6.2 FT/game last year.

    He's currently averaging 4.6 FT/game this year.

Are you saying that he's "doesn't like contact" more this year than last year? Or maybe there is something else to it?

He settles for the mid range jumper way too much for a guy his size. I did not see him posting up aggressively last night when the game was on the line. Great players find a way to get to the free throw line. Craig is not doing that this year.

I don't disagree with any of that. I disagree with you coming to the conclusion that it's because he "doesn't like contact".

Maybe he does, he just isn't showing us fans that he does. He fades away on a lot of shots. I would love to see him take it aggressively to the basket and start getting fouled and dunking on people.

We seem to be a team of finese players, with nobody willing to get physical inside.

I think Dendy is the best choice... excluding the fade-away jump shot, he has the best post up moves.

    Re: Brackins doesn't like contact

Craig seems to be working on his 'NBA' game.
If he doesnt start dominating(like he should)...he may be back next year afterall.

    Re: Brackins doesn't like contact

I don't think it's because he doesnt like contact, he just needed to be more physical. I think part of the problem was that he was going up against a guy who was 250-260 and he is only listed as 230. Ham was able to post up a little bit and move the ball inside for 4 points as he was more physically capable of moving UNI's guys.

Dendy is physical when he posts up and does not shy away from contact. He did not back down against Eglseder(?), went right at him. He needs to continue to do that.

    Re: Brackins doesn't like contact

I noted in another thread, I expect more from Craig. By all accounts, he's supposed to be a solid if not high lottery pick. He's getting double teamed and even has a 3rd guy rolling over to help at times. But, I've watched other guys of his same talent with similar talent around them - dominate games regardless of what teams throw at 'em.

Craig for the most part has not done that. If he wants his stock to continue to soar and to help this team win - he must find ways to become better against teams that are going to try to take him away - as well as be a better leader for this team.

I know it's little stuff, but when we were struggling in that second half, while other guys were hustling to the huddle at the breaks, Craig was just walking. He's frustrated, I get that. But the team needs more from him.

And I too would love to see him just get ****** off and take it strong. I'd be ok if he got a charge now and then, just try to own someone. He's got the tools to do it, just go at it.

Craig and Jiri are two completely different players, but both had some of their best games at ISU when they seemingly got ticked and were very aggressive toward the hoop. I always said I wished Greg would "slap Jiri across the face" or something before every game...just to get him mad.

He wasn't dong any better with Koch guarding him that he was with Egleseder. He could not establish position on the block. He was consistently getting the ball 8 feet or more from the basket.

Agreed. Dendy is by far are most agressive, do not shy away from contact...big man we have. He went right at Eglseder and his baby hook almost fell. All this while playing at maybe 75% and with little to no practice time.

LD needs to get healthy....he'll vastly improves our front line.

They said the same thing about Bo. Craig will go off for 40 some night, just wait and see.

If he continues to play the way he has he had better come back next season, because he has no chance on an NBA roster the way he's playing. Way too soft.
    Time to toughen up.
