    On November 17, FootballCoachScoop had BREAKING NEWS and FIRST TO REPORT that Athletic Director Lew Perkins was working on a buyout and that
    Head Coach Mark Mangino would no longer be the Head Coach at KU. Than on December 1, FootallCoachScoop had
    BREAKING NEWS and the FIRST
    TO REPORT
    the announcement of the firing will take place in the next few days as a deal has been completed between University and Mangino. Again, our
    source has confirmed that Stanford Head Coach, Jim Harbaugh, is the leading candidate to replace Mark Mangino at KU.

    Our sources tell us that Head Coach Mark Mangino will have the press conference today at 4 pm to announce he has been fired.

    That would be a lateral move at best for Harbaugh if he left Stanford for KU. He has it made at Stanford and is bringing in a very good recruiting class next year.

    Hmm... living in the Bay area as a millionaire coaching a team on the rise in the Pac 10 or.....living in Lawrence, KS coaching a team that is always second fiddle to basketball in those parts.

    Lateral move...and I don't think it happens. Again, what established coach would want to work under Perkins? And who would want to move to Lawrence, Kansas from California?

    His ex-wife and kids are still there (probably doesn't care about the ex but he is very much devoted to his kids). No chance he moves to the midwest.

    I don't see a coach like Harbaugh leaving Stanford for a school in the Big 12 north that has a track around it's stadium.

    I just fail to see how that's remotely logical on his part.

    No way. FB is second fiddle there. Plus, they have a track running around that field. He is staying at Stanford.

    He's definitely looking, but not like the situation is much better in Kansas, even when their team is good.
