This team has all the talent in the world...

Brackins would be playing in the NBA right now if he wanted to.

Gilstrap is a stud and animal.

We have a decent PG and a stud freshman who could've gone just about anywhere.

Lucca, Christopherson, Vanderbeken and Dendy all fill a role.

We have a dominant offensive player, animal on the boards, 3 point specialists and good PG. All the pieces are there and exactly where they need to be.

    Yet, we're no good.

So, with an NBA player and very good supporting cast, an NCAA tourney bid would seem like a given and a deep run should be expected, right?

Wrong. People would be happy to just make the tournament because everyone knows we'll have to overcome this coaching staff and system to even get in. I wonder what other coaches would do with this talent, of which there's plenty.

    Sad.

Who is the dominant offensive force? Who is the monster on the boards? I saw neither of those players last night.

Is it not the coaches job to get the talent here needed to win? He sold out and went JUCO heavy to win this year. Now what?

My grandma just called me and said that it came across her scanner that a Greg McDermott was just pulled out from under a CYRIDE on the corner of Welch Ave and Lincoln Way. He is refusing treatment at the scene....

Where is all this outstanding talent you all speak of?!?!!?

I don't like talking bad about the players but....

Garrett still can't make a layup if his life depends upon it and he took way too many ill advised shots IMO. Most overrated Cyclone player we have. He's not bad but most overrated IMO (Thank god he nailed a few threes last night after bricking a few)
Dendy looked way out classed last night and couldn't play defense.
Lucca doesn't know what to do with the ball if he is not catching and shooting.
Hamilton....I thought you were a BIG man.
Gilstrap should not be trying to play from the 3-point-line
Christopherson...is he lasts year Eikmeier??? Big flash in the pan?

We got destroyed by effort last night. I think only CB was the only guy out there giving it his all. I liked when Mac sat Garrett for awhile and put Colvin in. I'm sure the instructions were, "Run them out of the Gym." At halftime that's what we were suppose to do but we never did, except when Colvin was in there. There was a lot of problems with last nights game but I don't think it can all be put on the coaches shoulders. I really think you guys all need to come down to reality with the amount of talent you think we have on this team.

Re: This team has all the talent in the world...

Here's the talent on our roster:

    Colvin: #97 RSCI in 2009.
    Brackins: #51 RSCI in 2007.
    Dendy: #87 RSCI in 2007.

No one else on the roster was even a top 100 recruit coming out of high school.

I'm not sure this qualifies as "all the talent in the world."

Right. I think this meltdown was the direct result of people thinking this team was a great team. UNI isn't a bad team. Are they great? No, but they will probably make the tourny. There are upsets all of the time. I am not ready to write this season off yet. I would like to see a few conference games before I judge the whole season. It is pretty early to judge what this season is all about when we have played only two decent teams and lost the two games by a pretty small margin.

I agree with this. There would not have been a ridiculous meltdown if everyone would just have kept the hype machine in check.

And God forbid we wait and see how the season plays out. Because there's no way we can possibly recover from losing to two decent teams in the beginning of the year.
