Biggest Win in Mac's tenure at ISU?

What would it be? Recent history would suggest ISU...even when down...always seemed to knock somebody off - usually at home - that they weren't supposed to.

Has Mac had any of those type of wins to point to?

Off the top of my head.

Purdue - out in Vegas - I believe they went to the tourney that year, but we're realatively unknown at the time. Young group if I remember right.

UNI - Last year - still an unknown at the time, they were still in the process of starting off the season 6-6 - did rebound and went to the NCAA's.

Mizzou - at missouri - Mac's first year?

    anyone else?

None and the losing at Hilton to non-elite teams is what will end his tenure early IMO.

His biggest win was conning Pollard into hiring him.

    Dang...nobody?

    Near misses would be:

KU...year one at home...had'em on the ropes

    Texas...year 2...lost in OT

    Oklahoma...year 3...had'm on the ropes.

    I'm sure there is more....

UNI will win the Valley this year. Not sure I would call them non-elite. That being said, ISU should not be losing that game on their home court...

    They'll never be elite.

Re: Biggest Win in Mac's tenure at ISU?

Pretty much no big wins at all. Not even at home, that's just sad. His best season thus far has not been as good as the worst season of his immediate predecessor.

Hopefully things turn around this year, we still have the potential to be good... time to see that great coaching we always hear about actually translate to the team on the floor.

It hurts being Iowa State fan sometimes...... Loss to UNI was painful.

Re: Biggest Win in Mac's tenure at ISU?

Back to answer the original question. Macs biggest win was last year......AT UNI!!!!

I want Mac to be the coach at ISU for a long time but that is very very sad. UNI, freaking UNI. We are now 2-8 against the Valley - freaking pathetic for a program that has the fan support and resources to be a top 30 program.

Of course upsets can happen, you can't win them all but on paper we had no business losing the past 2 games - especially one inside a sold out Hilton Collisium.

I was wondering this very question last night. @UNI? I was hoping someone could think of something better than that.

Re: Biggest Win in Mac's tenure at ISU?

I think Mac is a great guy, and I really want to see him succeed here because I think he would retire here if he could. I would love to see him build a dynasty for the next couple of decades. But we are four years in, and we don't have anything to show for it. And with Brackins and Gilstrap probably leaving, year 5 looks like it may not even be as good as year 4.

Now I don't think he was the guy for the future and I'm not saying bring him back, but just to compare to this pretty pathetic list of signature wins for Mac in 4 years, how about a list of big wins in Morgan's time here.

My first pick would be the Virginia game. Top 25 team, game was on ESPN, that crazy fast break dunk by Clark. Hilton was actually alive for that game.

Not to **** on your parade but that year was the beginning of the end for Hilton Magic. That was the season we started losing to bad teams at home.

It also wasn't a game Mac coached in.

No, Hilton magic started to die during LE's last two years, when we started to get bombed by teams at home.
