    Offense

I am being serious not sarcastic... What is it that we are trying to run.... Is it motion, is it T, is it sets.... It is definately not a patterned offense.. I did see a nice 1 -4 set when Colvin made the nice dish to Gilstrap... For the life of me I can't identify what it is, usually I can watch a game and start to make some sense of things. Not us so far this year.... UNI ran a nice motion vs Man and overload vs... Zone... Also ran sets after time outs...
Anybody watched practice to see what it is they are running on a daily basis?

Perhaps we need to resort to the AND1 Streetball offense of the Wayne Morgan days. Man was that team exciting.

GMac thinks we're completely loaded with tons of weapons, so why should we run any kind of set offense? Just let the guys wing it. Let them play street ball and see what happens? It's a lot easier than actually coaching.

    Re: Offense

Yeah I agree, I would love someone to explain it. We don't run many plays or use very much motion.

NO! That would result in losing to lesser teams! Can you imagine if we lost to NDSU, Drake, or UNI at home!?....oh, wait, we already do that....sure, let's try it.

The thing is we didn't lose to those teams at home when Morgan was coach.

    I really am being serious...
Dribble kick out, short corner looks, Posting up 12 feet from the hoop is most of what I see... We never have a wing cross the lane without the ball.... Posts rarely rise, I just don't know what it is we are trying to do... I understand we are trying to run, but there is no Kansas type secondary break, so we don't beat them back and then we stand around... I sit and scratch my head.

    Re: Offense

I really think we run the stand there and dribble offense. Basically you stand around make it look like the other team is gaurding you well and then have players taking shots that shouldn't be taking shots.

    Hooray for Metaphors!

I was at the Northwestern game and was down near the court and could really hear McDermott during the game on the sidelines. In the 2nd half we had the ball at our end of the court and on every play he was almost on the court and shouting instructions to the players, I can see why the may look confused because he was constantly shouting out to individual players where to be on the court or to make a cut or who to guard and once I couuld hear him yelling for Lucca to shoot. It's something you don't realize on TV but being right behind the bench listening to him I can see how they were standing around it's like they waiting for him to tell them where to go instead of running the play and getting into the flow of the game.

You let the players improvise some and still have an offense with some structure. Look at how John Calipari has succeeded lately. The guys have spots that need to remained filled, but it is constant drive and kick until the defense either cheats or sags, and then you kill them with the 3 ball or a dump-down layup/dunk. This is why I like Colvin on the floor, it seems everytime he is on the floor we end up with an uncontested shot somewhere.
