For some reason he has Indy bowl picking behind the Texas Bowl which is not the case. I like his blog but he contradicts himself. He had OSU in the Fiesta Bowl, yet in the same week had them predicted to lose to OU which obviously could not happen where the 'Boys to make it to Arizona. I am thinking Texas Bowl and hoping Texas Bowl.

Schlabach and Feldman also have us in Shreveport. One against South Carolina and one against Georgia. I'm not sure how i feel about seeing the name Georgia lined up next to ours. HUGE opportunity for the CyclONE Nation...

Georgia would destroy us. Texas Bowl against Navy is a much better matchup.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

I don't think those are current are they? One of them has Kansas going to a bowl which is not possible.

Nope, you are right. I used Griffin's link and it was old... didn't look at anything but our name. When I looked it up myself, they are current and they both have us against Navy.

You're right. We should just decline any bowl invite if we have to play an SEC team. We would hate to have to play a team that is supposed to beat us. There is no way we could win and show a large audience that ISU is not a junk football team.

I want to play an SEC. We have nothing to lose. If we play a team that isn;t that good, a win doesn't do a lot for us. If we beat an SEC team we look real good to the young guys in the South. If we lose, then well, what was supposed to happen happened.

Nice straw man. The choice isnt between an SEC team and staying home. The hypothetical choice here is between SEC team and Navy.

It is not about the order of the picks. Indy probably does prefer A&M. But it may come down to tickets sales.

Indy can pick ISU knowing that we will send 10,000+ because the game will be close to a sellout with the SEC fanbase and good local support.

ISU v Navy in the Houston Bowl is a disaster for ticket sales. No locals attend the game, and Navy will not have a big contingent.

The Big 12 offices may "talk" Indy into selecting ISU and letting A&M bring a ton of fans to the Houston Bowl so that both bowls are "successful".

I am fine with either bowl.

OTOH, Indy can also pick A&M and have another team that will bring a ton of close by fans.

Not sure I understand your point. A&M would bring more fans than ISU. My point was that the Indy Bowl is not dependent upon a big contingent of ISU fans to have a near sellout, so they can afford to select ISU.

But 10,000 ISU fans and less than that for Navy fans will be an embarrassment in an NFL stadium.

I have no idea how it will play out and agree that Indy would prefer to pick A&M, leaving us to Texas Bowl. But these decisions are frequently made with regard to what best for $$$.

Indy has no $$ reason to care what the houston bowl wants. Also, id bet on TAMU vs an SEC team being a better game than ISU, which would make them a better pick for their bowl.
