    Texas Bowl...Need some quick facts

I've been looking at the Texas bowl this morning and there seems to be some contradicting information out there on the web...

Some sites say that it is the 30th on the NFL network while others (including the bowls homepage says Dec. 31st on ESPN...What is the truth??

Also, what is the payout for the texas bowl, I have not been able to find the payout numbers that Chris posted a while ago.

Dunno about the payout, but we're pretty certain it will be aired on the ESPN network. ESPN lists it on their programming schedule, and ESPN is listed on the bowl website as one of their partners. The NFL Network does neither.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Can we compare the quality of the stadium that the games are played in?

j/k. I will go to either Shreveport or H-town in a heartbeat - just want H-Town because I'm already here and I love Reliant Stadium.

    Here's Independence Stadium:

    And here's Reliant Stadium:

My opinion, Indy looks like a bowled-in high school stadium. Reliant (from pics and personal experience) is the real deal.

It has been on the NFL Network before but is on ESPN on Dec 31st this year.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

you're in Houston? What is the best airport to fly into (Bush or hobby)? What hotel would you recommend (close to fun stuff and close to metro for transport to stadium)?

Reliant stadium is nice, but it wont look all that great if its only half full.

thats the money that goes to the conference. I havent seen a source on this one, but someone said that the travel budget given from the conference to the schools for both bowls is equal.

Hobby is a very small airport - feels like DSM. Hobby is also much closer to Reliant than Bush.
Bush is on the north side of town but still very easy to get down to the stadium.
-that's one of the things I love about Houston - everything is easy to get to.

If you're flying Des Moines to Houston I know (and use it all the time) that Continental has direct flights.

The stadium is just inside the 610 loop and if you're in that area at all you're only moments from everything in the downtown area. (zoo, aquarium, major parks, golf, Rice, U of H, and so on.)

Can't say much about hotels as I've never stayed in any in the Houston area.

For anyone looking for info.... I'd believe anything on Texas Bowl | December 31, 2009 before anything on the other sites that may not be updated from last year or just have wrong info.
