    Allen Iverson announces retirement

One of the best small G's to ever play the game.

Just showed his top 5 plays... I remember how much I used to love the way he played the game.

    Re: Allen Iverson announces retirement

When Iverson first came into the league, I didn't have a lot of respect for him because I thought he was just another thug who was concerned primarily with himself. His tats, dreadlocks, street talk, and posse made me think he was just another NBA gangster. But as the years went by, I started to gain respect for him. I don't know if I just judged him too quickly or if he matured. Anyway, I really admire how hard he competed and how fearless he was.

    Re: Allen Iverson announces retirement

    This makes me feel old.

I like that he felt that his individual accomplishments were nothing since he hadn't won a championship. That's the mentality that's missing from the league by and large. Of course, the last couple seasons haven't necessarily seen him demostrating that belief...

He'll be with a contender by the end of the season.

    Re: Allen Iverson announces retirement

I am one big AI fan. I was not neccesarily a fan of how he conducted himself all of the time, but I loved how he played. He is a small guy, however he was not afraid to get hit. I have a lot of respect for that. I know he wants to win a championship. I would bet a fair amount of money he is not done this year. My pick is the Cavs. It makes sense. He gives them someone else who can create their own shot when teams focus on LeBron. It would also be a place that he cannot possibly expect to be a focal point. I also think he would jump at the chance to win a championship. He want's one bad.

It's all snark from here on out

    Re: Allen Iverson announces retirement

I love AI. I would love to see him get a chance with a contender. I'm also a fan of the Nuggets, and would love to see him find his way back there...despite everything. But, even if he does hang it up...he's had a pretty stellar career, and had nothing to be ashamed about. He gave it all his entire career...outside of a couple of "practices". I hope he finds his peace...

How many times did he say "we talkin' 'bout practice!" in that interview?

    Lmfao I love it.

I also like what he said to the next reporter at the very end "How the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing...."

    Hahaha so funny!!
