    Colvin

Wow, he was terrible last night with the ball. I hope it's a one game funk because it was like he forgot how to dribble. He had some nice athletic moments but Buckley should have been in the game much sooner.

    Re: Colvin

He needs to start finishing around the basket. It seems he misses every one of them. He has shown some good passing and defense. Hopefully he starts picking up on things, but he has time.

    Re: Colvin

He's a freshman, and that's going to happen. I'm hoping when we get into more competitive games that McD turns to Buckley a little sooner too. It's good experience for Colvin since the games so far have been completely in the bag from the tip, maybe Buckley will be first in when we get to tougher matchups. I imagine we'll find out this weekend.

    Re: Colvin

I think having 2 other capable point guards in buckley and DG will allow him time to learn. The good thing is we don't need him to have a huge role right away. DG was starting as a freshman and really struggled at times. Colvin has great potential and will be very good down the road. He's only played in 5 games so far so I've probably expected way too much out of a true freshman pg.

    Re: Colvin

I'm just happy we aren't only having to depend on a freshmen to run our point. He is just one of several options. DG is solid. I'm not concerned.

    Re: Colvin

He needs to understand that, with the talent he has around him, he doesn't need to be a playmaker right now. He really just needs to be a competent point guard, and he will see some minutes. Playing like this will reduce his minutes, particularly in close games.

    Re: Colvin

I agree Colvin didn't look great. Tenn State was kind of a scrappy, pressing team. We were too good and were able to beat them on it, but they were always kind of poking at the point guards. You could tell DG had been through it before and Chris hadn't.

    Re: Colvin

Right now Colvin is playing for his defense and to build experience...b/c we'll need his defense. He oozes potential (found out last night that he can JUMP)--just needs minutes and coaching.

    Re: Colvin

I'm not worried but I found myself feeling for Buckley because Colvin was handing the ball to TSU. We'll be fine.

    Re: Colvin

DG had a hard time finishing around the basket as well. Colvin will settle down and when he has some more experience he will go ape **** on teams without a doubt.

    Re: Colvin

He had some bad turnovers but he looks like he has a TON of potential. That jump stop driving basket last night hasnt been seen since Tinsley's days here.

    Re: Colvin

He is doing the same thing Will Blalock did at this point in his career. He will show us something. Then nothing. It's a freshman thing. If he ends up like Blalock I will be completely satisfied. Give him time.

    Re: Colvin

Agree with the above statements, I think he needs to value the ball a little more and maybe underestimated his opponent. Still a freshman, good game to have an off night, definitely potential there.
