Question for you football recruit guys

Who are we getting to replace Kennard Banks. Can anyone step in and give us more than Kennard. Obviously he has had some hard times dealing with receivers this year. Are we going to try and get someone who can come in and play? Is there a redshirt guy that will be contributing next year? Is there a Juco D Back that we are looking at. We have to do something. Who ever is backing up Kennard right now must be really struggling if he can't replace him this year. So anyone know? Just curious.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Benton?? He started some last year when Banks was inured and was our nickel back this year before injury.

Best thing we can do to help the corners is to get a better pass rush. Anyone would be exposed on the corner given the amount of time the other team's QB's get.

I don't think Benton will never be a starter at corner again. I think Wally has him in the nickle package, exclusively. He's a good football player and he'll be on the field more often than not. I think a strong candidate for the corner next year will be Jacques Washington. That's my guess anyway.

My money is on Jeremy Reeves to take over the starting spot once KB leaves. He has played quite a bit this year for a trust frosh and actually seems to be pretty decent.

Stewo brings up a good name as well. Jacques Washington's name has been mentioned a lot this year from the scout team as a redshirt frosh. I'd imagine he and Reeves will get the majority of pt at the vacant corner spot.

It will be Benton, unless they decide they like him so much at the nickleback position that they don't want him moving back to traditional CB position.

If they leave Benton at nickle, Reeves seems the most likely, followed by J Washington.

Would like to see a good JC CB signed but don't know if it will happen or if it is a priority.

There may not be a clear cut guy coming out of spring ball even. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Re: Question for you football recruit guys

I'm thinking Reeves. Has played some quality (non-garbage time) minutes as a true frosh and made some rookie mistakes but overall was a good back-up. A month of bowl practices, spring ball, and another fall camp should have him primed and ready to step in next year.

I think we'll be decent (albeit very young) with a middle 5 of Klein and Knott at LB, Johnson and Reeves at CB, and Benton at NB. Throw in Jeremiah George at LB or S, along with Sims at safety...with a hopefully improved DL they'll be alright back there.

Reeves, I think, has better coverage ability and is quicker than Benton. Benton will probably play the nickel, which is a great fit for him. Reeves is very short though, and will struggle with redzone defense.

In the 4-3 Benton will probably be the other CB and when we go to the nickel he will move in and play that and Reeves will play the CB on the outside.

Reeves has played quite a bit, but I was on the sideline for Colorado and just remember one drive where LJ was out and Reeves got beat on about four straight plays

I know exactly what you are talking about. Reeves especially got burnt badly on one play and LJ immediately came back in. I take all this with a grain of salt though. Reeves is a true frosh and clearly has a lot to learn, however I think with a year under his belt (the extra month of practice for a bowl game) and more time in the weight room Reeves will become a good corner.
