ISU MBB: Bring on the big boys

We have not played anyone with a real pulse yet and that will end soon. However, we've struggled with teams on life support in recent years and pounding these teams is certainly a good sign!

I can't wait to be here on January 7th and be discussing where this team is after playing teams like...

    UNI
    Cal
    Duke
    and potentially Notre Dame

    Go State!

If we go 3-0 this week, we'll be in the top 25 the following week. That would make us 7-0 with a win over, most likely, Notre Dame.

Looking forward to some big games. Looks like we might have a team that can compete and beat some very good teams this year. But, I am cautiously optimistic, let's see what happens when somebody really guards us on the perimeter.

I'd be very happy with that. In all reality, we'll probably stumble once before we really get rolling. That just seems to be how it works for great teams. They lose a game and it sparks a desire to avoid losing again.

Recall that the great Fizer Tinsley team lost to Drake early that season. That was their wake up call. Heck, maybe this seasons team doesn't need a wake up call.

I'm actually going to take the top 25 remark back from my above post. I just checked the latest polls at NCAA College Basketball Rankings - CBSSports.com and we aren't getting votes anywhere, yet 2-1 UNI, 2-1 Cornell(really?) and 1-2 Utah State(WTF?!) are. I think if we go undefeated this season, we might get a vote and can hopefully clinch ourselves a 16 seed come March. I got my fingers crossed. Crossed. Crossssed.

Not going to get too optimistic yet.

I like what we see.....I am hoping for a dance card.

Does it count when we come out flatter than flat with the likes of MVSU? I'm hoping there doesn't need to be that wake-up call loss. Looks like they are adjusting well in the game.

Those rankings are from last week and don't account for our wins at Drake and MVSU. The new ones haven't come out yet. I think they come out today sometime. Look for us to have some votes there.

Re: ISU MBB: Bring on the big boys

Just a reminder. The '99-'00 team wasn't ranked until the first week in February (when they were 18-3 after beating Kansas in Hilton).

in basketball the rankings are completely meaningless and the early season ones are even moreso. If people want to keep overlooking us, more power to them.

We'll end up where we deserve in the NCAA.

As long as UNI or Iowa aren't the wake-up call...

It would be nice to fly under the radar as long as possible (while still getting wins).

Those are old rankings Stewo. Syracuse isn't even ranked after beating #13 cal and #6 unc.
