Rumor is that Urban Meyer is interested in Notre Dame

Urban Meyer is said to be looking for a new challenge and if they win the National title again this year with Tebow departing it would be the perfect time to leave Florida. If Urban Meyer would take Notre Dame job it would start the dominos falling and create a lot of new coaches at big name schools. My predictions would be.

    Notre Dame: Urban Meyer
    Florida: Bob Stoops
    Oklahoma: Brian Kelly

If Michigan fires Rich Rodriguez I see the following scenario.

    Michigan: Les Miles
LSU: Will Muschamp (Texas def coordinator, and yes I know he is the coach in waiting at Texas but LSU is too good of job to pass up right now)
    Colorado: Rich Rodriguez

I think Kansas will end up with someone like Turner Gill or Randy Edsall from UCONN.

What does everyone else think will happen if Urban Meyer goes to Notre Dame and Rodriguez is let go at Michigan?

The only problem I see with the scenerio is that you would be having CU and KU hiring coaches coming off of losing records.

Les Miles isn't a great coach. Michigan should do better.

Rich Rod might do well in the Big 12. His style fits better and the transition might not be as startling.

Edsall is a very good coach. KU would be lucky to have him.

Randy Edsell is arguably in a better job now than he would be at KU! If he leaves UConn...it will be for a higher profile job than KU!

I am not a Miles fan either but he is a "Michigan man". I believe that he played for Schembechler. After the RichRod disaster they are going to want one of their own to lead the program again.

Colorado would jump at the chance to have Rodriguez in Boulder. He just wasn't a good fit at Michigan as he has no Michigan ties whatsoever. I also believe that Kansas AD Lew Perkins is the former AD at UCONN and hired Edsell when he was there.

There is a fine line between challenge and suicide. Florida is a recruiting haven. ND is not. Tough academic standards, cold weather and being in a state of hicks makes Notre Dame a tough place to get quality talent.

Urban Meyer has the ego to think he can win big anywhere. He is a former Notre Dame assistant so he knows the culture surrounding Notre Dame and the challenges that are presently there. People might think it is crazy for him to leave Florida but with Tebow leaving it is the perfect time for him to take on a new challenge.

I also have to think Les Miles would find a much easier route to success (minus the annual matchup with Ohio State) at Michigan rather than at any school in the SEC! I was watching the end of the LSU-Ole Miss game and was thinking how does a school go on an extended run in that league? It is so tough to do...one bad QB recruit...or one average recruiting class and you are in deep trouble in the SEC! Not so in the Big X.

I think you are right on with your post! Regardless...at the minimum he will feign interest and get a ridiculous deal to stay at Florida. But I think he might see this as the right time to take on the challenge at ND.

That didn't stop Auburn from hiring a coach coming off of a 10 game losing streak.

Rich Rodriguez is not going to be fired. They have a lot of young talent on his squad right now. Every meaningful snap that was taken at QB this year was taken by a true freshman. Even at the great Michigan, they have to give a coach a chance to build a program. The offensive system he runs there is something that the other Big Televen teams are not equipped to defend. He just has to recruit the right players to run it.

If Brian Kelly goes to OU.....look out. We'd be in for more trouble than we already are in with Stoops there.

Chuck Weis is going to be fired by ND. I hope that ND twists in the wind again for a month or so while trying to find a successor. It was quite entertaining back in 2004 watching them get turned down time and time again by coaches who know its a ****** job.

If Meyer goes, Florida hires Shanahan in two seconds. THe Florida AD, Jeremy Foley and Shanahan are very good friends.

Re: Rumor is that Urban Meyer is interested in Notre Dame

I think it is more likely that Brian Kelly would fill the Notre Dame job. I don't think Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops are going anywhere, so that is kind of a delusion. Great coaches don't seem to leave destination jobs like that as they become figure-heads of their respective programs...thus they got it good and they aren't leaving.

What I find interesting is the Mike Leach to Louisville rumor. There is a guy that seems to want to move up and on from Texas Tech. Then we would potentially have 3 new coaches in the Big 12 next year (CU, KU, and TT).

They are going to finish dead last in the Big 10. While they may give him one more year he will not be there long term. The fan base has not embraced him at all. I don't see them being much better next year. They expect 9-10 wins a year at Michigan and no way they win 10 next year after winning five this year. It would be best for both RichRod and Michigan to just end it now.
