    3 point shooting

We are currently leading the country in 3 PT% at 55.6. Pretty impressive after 3 games.

    Re: 3 point shooting

I'm impressed with the team as a whole, as well as the coaching. There are scoring threats at every position, and the team is really deep. I'm fired up for what the rest of the season brings, like I haven't been for quite some time.

    Re: 3 point shooting

We'll be a good team, if we can keep that up :)

It'll be interesting to watch, we had some good shooting games last year too, but I am hopeful that this year will be better. I am hopeful because last year if you guarded Craig and Lucca, you were probably sitting pretty good. This year you have to guard Craig and Lucca. But you also have Scott that can hit the three and drive. And you have to respect Gilstrap. And to top it off, we are moving the ball like no one's business. There have been mulitple times this year where I have thought that someone (usually DG) could take a shot and it would be a good shot. Most of the time, he's made the extra pass and we've ended up with a better shot.

    Re: 3 point shooting

Everyone on the team that has taken more than 1 three-pointer is shooting 50% or better. (Brackins and Dorr are both 0-1)

The biggest difference is that Brackins, Garrett, Colvin and Buckley (our "poor" 3-point shooters) have taken exactly 3.

Of course this will come down as the competition gets tougher, but this is a really good shooting team.

    Re: 3 point shooting

It's been said several times, but worth repeating: DG is the difference right now, IMHO.

    in 2008-09 year:
SHOT FREQUENCY: 1 shot per 4 minutes played @ 40% success.
ASSIST FREQUENCY: 1 assist per 7.5 minutes played.

    in 2009-10 year (so far):
SHOT FREQUENCY: 1 shot per 7.5 minutes played @ 50% success.
ASSIST FREQUENCY: 1 assist per 3.2 minutes played.

His efficiency numbers are way up. Hopefully it can continue against better competition.

    Re: 3 point shooting

I think the positive actually is that Brackins has only taken one three pointer in the regular season so far. Him not floating around on the outside is also opening up looks for our other three point shooters.

DG is really playing well...I have one complaint thus far, he goes East to West a lot. If we can get him playing North and South, doing the same thing...We will be a very dangerous team.

    Re: 3 point shooting

i really don't think dg is that much of a better player. there are simply just more threats around him to get the ball. He isn't even in position to shoot most of the time when he has the ball, which is a good thing, cause we don't need him to shoot.

    Three reasons:

    1. We have the right players taking the 3-point shots.
    2. Diante has come to the realization that he's more valuable to the team getting the ball to the shooters than trying to force the shot himself.
    3. With Brackins in the middle, our 3-point assassins are getting wide open looks.

I noticed that too... Is he still banged up? He is having trouble getting past guys and getting to the lane in the sets right now in the sets (doing very well on the breaks). He's also getting beat to the lane a little more than I would like to see, especially considering the guys that are doing it to him.

It'd be even more impressive if we still lead the country at the end of the season.
