    Keeler's spin for Alford

I really want Iowa to keep SA. I know we are building and it would be great to keep them average at best...but I still can't take the snow job the Keeler is rying to spin today. WOW what a shill. Can someone post a link to the article? I'm not sure how. Love to hear others views on this POC.

    Re: Keeler's spin for Alford

    eh...

The Big 10 was way down this year. Alford exceeded expectations, no doubt, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Let's see how they do without Haluska next year.

Oh well, I hope Alford stays at Iowa for the next 15 years. :)

    Re: Keeler's spin for Alford

Wow, what a terrible article. I love it how he made a terrible situation look so good. Such as "This was one of those years. And yet the Hawkeyes were still three razor-thin losses away - at Arizona State and Penn State and against Northern Iowa - from going into Chicago on the NCAA Tournament bubble. Think about that for a minute." If you lose to those three teams you don't deserve even the NIT.

    Re: Keeler's spin for Alford

I agree with everything he wrote in the article. The only problem is he leaves out the reason 9 conference wins was overacheiving for this team. Its because Alford and company haven't brought in the talent to be an NCAA team. Which makes the message, this season was a failure, and not Alford did a good job with those crappy players like boy journalist wants you to believe.

Give SA another raise! No doubt the greatest coaching job anyone did all year.

    Re: Keeler's spin for Alford

paragraph 2 and 3 both start out w/ "the truth is". I'm not journalist, and maybe someone who is can clarify, but isn't that something that your 7th grade english teacher would ask you to change?

The truth is SA sucks, and I therefore love him for the coach he is. I want him to stay forever, and if I have to put up w/ EIU suck jobs every year.. i guess thats the price i'll pay for having a mediocre coach as our in-state rival.

Maybe Keeler should read what some of the fans are saying.

I find the Hawk fans ripping the article quite humorous at the bottom of the page.

    Re: Keeler's spin for Alford

Mr. Keeler, what about a Greg McDermott coached team getting 15 wins with 4 returning scholarship players and a short recruiting period?

This is a pro- ISU column from the Rag. I'll second the motion for a SA contract extension.
