13-2 at worst. Losing to Cal and Duke.

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

12-2... We will go 2-2 against Duke, Cal, Notre Dame, and UNI

I think that we can win the rest with ease.

So either the OP list is missing a game or I can't count...either way I'm going with 2 losses

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

the toughest games are clearly Notre Dame (which isn't a for sure opponent), UNI, Cal, and Duke. I think we can go 3-1 against those 4 teams but I'll predict we go 2-2. The worst part about that is we play notre dame, uni and cal back to back to back.

Yeah, ND/Northwestern isn't in there. I agree, two loses. We beat Duke.

We have to take care of the Fighting Majeruses, but Northwestern lost Kevin Coble, who led them in scoring and rebounding last year, to season ending foot surgery, so Notre Dame should be able to take care of business.

    And then...Brackins v. Harangody

Good lord I hope some television outlet picks up that game!

worst case should be 11-4. best case is undefeated.

I'm gonna say 12-3 with losses to Cal, Duke, and one other (not sure who)

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

I see 12-2. We beat Notre Dame we will have great crowd there. At Cal will be tough and Duke is Duke, if the game is close against Duke the refs will help them out in the end.

I could also see Dukie V poking a broomstick or something out from underneath the pxp table and tripping some of our players.

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

I'll say we'll have 3 losses. I'm not entirely convinced we are good enough not to lay at least one bad game out there.

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

I would think to be ranked going into conference play they would have to be at a minimum 14-1. I would think beating Duke is what it will take to get to a top 25. I think if it was Cal and losing to Duke there is enough east coast bias that I could see ISU close but not in the top 25.

    +1

We have shown we can beat the Chicago States of the world while playing a bad game, but there are a few good bball teams on our schedule that will punish us if we don't bring our "A" game. I put SLU, Bradley, UNI, and Houston into this category and Cal, ND, and Duke into the category of not expecting a win, but its entirely possible. So if we go 3-1 in the first one, and 1-2 in the second I'll be happy, leaving us at 12-3 for the non-conference record.

I think we're in the Top 25 if we beat Cal and are undefeated. I think we give Duke a good game and I anticipate a pick 'em type line.

    Re: Non Conference thoughts

I am still cautiously optimistic about this team so far. I LOVED what I saw at drake. They actually looked like a top notch program for about 32 minutes of that game. They started to let drake back into it there with about 7-8 mins left in the game.

If they play more games like the Idaho State game and the Chicago State game they are going to get picked off some of those teams on their schedule. Drake is way down and young and the other two are not good teams at all. I am very interested to see how we will play against a Notre Dame/Cal/Duke. I think if we bring our best game we stand a chance.
