    Hamilton

What was up with him last night? Box Score only shows he played 5 minutes. I didn't get a chance to see most of the game, and I dug a little bit in some of the threads and couldn't find anything.

Was he hurt or sick or something?

He picked up a couple quick ones real early and then the same thing to start the 2nd half.

Foul trouble in the first half but was getting dominated by smaller/quicker guys in the beginning of the second half. I think Ham will play very well against big body guys and will struggle against smaller, quicker guys. He's only a sophomore and I think he will work on that as he progresses. I think he has the talent to be better than Jared Homan who was a pretty damn good player the last 2 years of his career. Ham is already ahead of where Homan was his sophomore year.

This. He got abused last night in his limited playing time. He gave up the first 6 points of the second half.

    Re: Hamilton

He needs to show little more intensity... Instead of doing layups/put backs under the basket, he should try to dunk!

Ham will not be better than Homan. he doesn't move as well as Homan. It won't happen.

I'm one in favor of Ham not starting when Dendy gets back, but we still definitely need him to play a role on this team.

I think Ham might have the skills but I they are still a little raw. Homan had a little bit of crazyness in him that made his intensity so good. We all saw that intensity and how much he roared and yelled. I'm just waiting for someone to cheap shot Ham, and for the intensity to come out either via technical or a mad dunk.

    Re: Hamilton

I think he didn't play much because Drake zone defended us the whole game. Did you see how fast we were moving the ball around? I don't think Hamilton could play that fast. Passing and dribble penetration is how you beat the zone. Why play Ham in that situation when you have CB, Gilstrap and JVB who can play much faster?

Nail on the head right there. Hamilton plays better against bruisers, JVB hangs with the smaller, quicker guys. It's nice to have two guys of the same height that play totally different games. We should be able to tailor our matchups effectively.

Depth and chemistry. Two HUGE things this team has that our recent teams haven't.

    Re: Hamilton

Ham will be matching up against teams with big centers. Playing smaller teams like Drake it's better to have faster bigs with range like CB and JVB who dominated down low. He needs to watch some shaq video, and work on getting more physical around the basket. We're gonna need his presence next year, so hopefully he developes into a new Homan type.

    Re: Hamilton

He's a role player. A guy to take up space, grab boards, and keep Cole Aldrich away from Brackins. I doubt he will ever be a monster score machine highlight reel, but he occupies the opponent's bigs. If he can draw a double down low and defend a layup he is doing exactly what he is supposed to. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Enjoy.

    Re: Hamilton

People need to remember, Ham just started playing Basketball a few years back. He has progressed very nicely. Mac likes his ability to learn and work on his game, he really has not had a chance to pick up any bad habits.

I think he has a very bright future with ISU Basketball, He has height and a big frame that is only getting stronger. Has great chemistry with the guys and will play his role to do anything he can to make ISU a winner. I like watching him play.
