    Recruiting for next year...

Does anyone know where I can find a list of players we are going after???

I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on our recruiting so far. IMO we are set on the o-line, bc we return 4 (?) starters and some good backups plus we have a few good recruits already. I think our o-line is pretty much set for the next few years. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any plans to move any o-lineman to defense? So far, I think our recruiting class is pretty decent. Could use a couple more 4-star guys but I'm happy with the number of 3-star guys that we got. Out of the commits to this point, who will make the biggest impact next year?

    This is Ophion speaking.

I would go with 'The Freak' Floyd Mattison, too good of an athlete not to see the field next year, no stars now but I see him with 3-4 by year end....

From what I have been able to find on this kid, I would be shocked if he wasn't a 4 star. I think the one thing that really hurts him is that his team appears to be terrible. That makes it a little tougher to get attention. He will eventually be evaluated and we will see.

We've gotten about 20 Skypes, and have around 5 Skypes to give.

It's been what seems to be a solid recruiting class so far. I would love to see a few more defensive recruits... especially d-linemen. One of our biggest weaknesses has been our inability to get a pass rush on the opposing QB. We need help there.

    Re: Recruiting for next year...

Concerning our overall recruiting outlook, I'd check out this article from the Rag....

Analyst: ISU football sees progress in recruiting | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register

Jeremy Crabtree from Rivals has some really nice things to say about ISU's recruiting so far. And it sounds like he's a big fan of Chris Young. From the article he says, "Hes one of the top junior college guys anywhere. This kids going to be big-time. There isn't much earth shattering news in the article, but the comments from Crabtree are nice to see.

    Re: Recruiting for next year...

I really like the guys we have verbal commitments from. Particularly Tom Farniok, John Caspers, and the other offensive lineman. The commitments on the defensive side (when added to those from this years freshman class) are going to make for a hard hitting, fast, and aggressive defense.
We still need to get a commitment from Rony Nelson from Yuba College (Ca). Leads Cali JC's in sacks (18), tackles for losses (22), and tackles per game by a defensive lineman. But as you can imagine, he is starting to blow up and attracting a lot of attention.
Also wish someone could convince Shontrelle Johnson that Iowa State is a better place for him to go.

    Re: Recruiting for next year...

Im surprised we havent taken a RB yet. But there have been a few names floated around here as of late. We do need a couple of DL.
Really depends on where they project a few of these guys playing. A lot of Tweeners in this class. Not a bad problem to have options I guess.
We really only have one CD and he is a juco.

Mostly 3 star recruits. I can't remember the last time that happened...

    Re: Recruiting for next year...

I'm sure he will be a 5 star if scout/rivals gives him a legit look. Max Emfinger has him as the #1 weakside lb, and a top 25 OVERALL recruit in the nation!!! Emfinger (if your not familiar with him) is one of the nations premier prep scouts. He also use to be one of the Dallas Cowboys's top scouts. Emfinger has been grading high school athletes long before rivals and scout even existed. He defiantly knows his **** when it comes to recruiting, and be that he is gushing over this kid....makes me ecstatic! I've never been more excited about a commit then Mattison! I just hope he makes it to campus...He will be an immediate impact player from day one.

    Re: Recruiting for next year...

CPR said on the last call-in show that they are going to spend the last 6-8 spots on DL, DB, and one RB.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.
