    Warriors

I don't want to bust on Chris too much for not seeing this movie, even though in many circles, it would require revoking a man card.

But what floored me was the admission that he's only seen "parts" of Office Space, and has never seen The Big Lebowski. That's downright blasphemous.

In my opinion, if you use the excuse that you haven't seen something "because it was made before I was born", you forfeit the right to call some thing the "best/funniest/_____ movie EVER".

Is the "before I was born" excuse a generational thing?
I'm 40 (I'm a man) and many of my favorite things were made before I was born. But I have many friends who are 30 and under who seem to think anything that happened prior to their conception is ancient history that they couldn't possibly be expected to be aware of.
To many of them, The Goonies is the gold standard of moviemaking. So I'm not sure if it's generational, or just something else to chalk up to the pussification of our culture.

Makes me want to force them to watch The Wild Bunch, The Dirty Dozen, Kelly's Heroes and Death Wish on a 24 hour loop.
But instead, they can tell you what time Saved By the Bell is on TBS to this day.

I wish I had time to find the facepalm pic...

I haven't seen any of those three movies that Chris hasn't seen. I'm 37, and don't mind at all.

I'm 30 and love a lot of things from before my time, but you're right, there is a tendency for people to disregard things that didn't happen during their life. I have a 14 year old nephew that is exactly the person you're describing. It was like pulling teeth the first time I sat him down to watch The Jerk or Airplane!. He quotes The Jerk all the time now.

The best part was that there have been times that we pulled out the old NES at family holidays and he has no interest in playing, but make the games downloadable on the Wii and they're awesome!

Careful. If you get a 14 year old to constantly quote "The Jerk", his friends will have no cluse what he is talking about and he will become an outcast.

Seriously though, some of the classics should be required viewing for kids today. When my sons are old enough I am going to sit them down and watch Airplane! with them.

I remember when I was at ISU, a friend and I decided to go and rent a bunch of classic movies. Not even just classic funny movies but dramas and award winners like "The Graduate" and "All the Presidents Men" since they were made before we were born and we had never seen them. There are some older movies that are far superior to some of the crap they make now adays. (I sound like an old man at age 30!) The modern obsession with special effects is killing the film industry.
Nothing can just be a good story anymore. It has to have CGI and some big twist to make it sell at the box office. While there have been some good movies made lately, I think some of the classics are sometimes better because they focused on the acting and not the special effects. The top actors and actresses back then usually were much better actors than the top money makers of today as well. Lately you just have to be the most attractive to be considered a box office draw. (cough Scarlett Johansson cough) I think a real cinema renaissance era is well overdue.

    Sorry for the rant everyone.

Yeah, I gotta admit, I don't think I've ever heard of Warriors. Maybe if I saw a clip of it I'd recognize it?

But Chris, come one. Office Space, The Big Lebowski and BEAST MASTER?

    Re: Warriors

Warriors is one of those fringe movies that if you've seen it, you can't imagine why anyone hasn't seen it. I've seen it many times, but I realize that baseball bat wielding pinstripe wearing mimes on rollerskates may be beyond the comprehension of some. I don't think any less of them, but I just watch the movie and say "CAAAAAAN YOOOOOOOU DIIIIIIIG IIIIIIIIIIIIT???"

There are people that haven't seen Office Space?

Every time I have watched The Big Lebowski I have ended up getting completely smashed. As a consequence, I can not remember how the movie ends at all. I have to make time to watch it sober sometime.

Don't forget Dirty Harry, Bullit, Once Upon a Time in the West or the Guns of Navarrone...

To be fair; the episode of SBTB where Jessie Spano is on speed is one of the funniest half-hours in TV history; "I'm so excited"!

You are going to judge an entire movie by a small clip?

The Warriors, however, is like most movies. Some people will really like it (like me). Some people will hate it and some people will have no opinion on it one way or the other.

I have the CD, and I could watch it at least once a month.
