Here is how crappy the Big 12 North is

Honestly, just think about this for a second - If KSU beats NU this weekend, they go to the Big 12 championship. If they lose, they don't go to a bowl. Wow.

Also, if MU beats KU in 2 weeks, KU will also probably not qualify for a bowl and will finish 1-7 on the season. Crazy.

It sucks even more that ISU lost close games to those 2 teams (KSU and KU).

Re: Here is how crappy the Big 12 North is

As much as I want to have pride in my conference this is a great opportunity for ISU. Hopefully Rhoads and Company can quickly establish themselves in the North pecking order. If you think about it there is probalby no easier road to a BCS bowl than being in the Big XII North right now. You win a very easy division and then you only have to pull off one real upset in the conference cahmpionship game and its BCS BABY !!!!

The North is embarassingly bad. The Mountain West is better this year.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Yes. But I think the Big12 South could become a little more equal too. I'm not saying it's going to be level, but I hear A&M is starting to get some good recruits, OK State is playing a lot better the last couple years, and TT can be a throrn.

    Exactly.

Nice season we've had, but if we won those games, we're playing for our ninth...let me say that again...ninth...win, against Mizzu this Saturday.

Just like last season, close, but not quite. We've got a couple close games to go our way this season, but not all of them.

If Nebraska beats KSU and loses to Colorado and we beat Missouri, do we win the North?

Re: Here is how crappy the Big 12 North is

It's a strange season. It really sucks for me (KU fan) I don't see us winning another. We've pretty much given away 5 games in a row and could have lost to you guys to make it 6. But some of it is just bad breaks and poor turnovers by a qb who you wouldn't expect to do that. KU's really the one that could play the "what if?" In the Big 12 we are +13 in first downs over our opponents, ISU is -28. I think that speaks to coaching. ISU has done the most with their opportunities, Rhoads deserves the Big 12 COY.

We can't win the north. We are out. Winner of Nebraska vs KSU is the Big 12 North Champ.

I am pulling for Nebraska. Helps us to get a better bowl game I believe and Nebraska actually would have a slight chance of beating Texas. Kansas St would not

Re: Here is how crappy the Big 12 North is

I think there is a serious misconception in college football about why conferences like the Big Ten and the Big 12 North are struggling. The Big Ten is a little bit better as a whole than it was last season IMO, but still not one of the top 2-3 conferences in the country.

The misconception is that these conferences struggle due to recruiting, and that isn't the case. These conferences struggle due to poor coaching. Think about it - when the Big 12 North was a power house division, they had Tom Osbourne at Nebraska and Bill Snyder at KSU (it isn't a coincidence KSU is already almost bowl eligible after a dismal season last year), guys like Bill McCartney and Rick Neheisal at Colorado. Then those guys were replaced with guys like Bill Callahan, the fat Prince of K State, and Dan Hawkins. All three of those coaches drove their respective programs into the ground. Hell, even ISU had Gene Chizik who hurt them.

Recruiting has changed the last 10 years as well though.

I've never seen the North worse than it is this year. Funny thing is, next year isn't looking a whole lot better.
