What do we need to do to beat Mizzou?

    OFFENSIVELY...

QB: This game, AA MUST play lights out. This means no INT's by forcing a pass and not taking an unnecessary sack. He doesn't have to win the game, just manage it.

RB: ARob, keep doing what you are doing.

WR: Get physical! Do not let DB's beat you at the line!

    Play Selection Ideas:
1.How about a play utilizing Houston Jones on an end-around where he throws the ball downfield? Gimmicky? Yes. Worth a shot? You bet!
2.Would love to see that wheel route by ARob again that worked so well against Okie St.
3.Get Collin Franklin more involved in the passing game.
4.2nd and short (1yd or less)... PLAY ACTION... and throw it downfield! We'll pick up the first on the 3rd down play.

    DEFENSIVLEY...

Play every bit as hard as you have been. Our DC needs to have a great game plan. Would love to see a good mixture of blitz packages and disguised coverages (i.e. LB moving to blitz and a DE/DT dropping back to cover the vacant area)

    SPECIAL TEAMS...

Our best kicking game was against Nebraska. We need another performance like that! Otherwise its standard: ball security and no stupid penalties.

Need a Big 12 starting quarterback kind of game out of AA.

Re: What do we need to do to beat Mizzou?

I keep waiting for the zone read to set up some playaction going down field...

We've gotta make Mizzou pay for blitzing. We haven't done that the past two weeks, and it's killing our passing game. We've got to get hot reads/receivers in the voids quickly and turn those two-man blitzes into 5 - 15 yard gains. Those blitzes are also forcing ARob and our TE's to stay home rather than releasing, so we've got fewer targets to throw to as well. I'd like to see some screens too. I really liked that little inside screen we threw to Darks, though I wasn't real happy when he got juke-happy and almost ran back behind the first down marker...

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.

Learn how to defend a quick hitting spread, ala, OSU and A&M.... Could be rough if we don't....

Suh is a beast but having a fg and xp blocked isn't exactly stellar.

The only other kick at that game was the early field goal, which leads me to believe he was referring to the punting.

MU's Danario Alexander is a beast. He already has 1,000 receiving yards and went off for about 200 and 3 TD's against KSU. Instead of LJ playing left CB and KB on the right, I think we need to lock LJ up on DAlexander all over the field. This kid will light up KB.

I remember Army picking on KB and then we made the adjustment to have LJ cover the big WR regardless of where he lined up. LJ shut him down. We will need to do the same.

This matchup is not as favorable as CU. MU is another spread pass team like KU, A&M and OSU that we have struggled with due to lack of an effective pass rush. We have matched up better with teams like KSU, NU and CU that do not possess as strong a passing attack.

I am very glad we got win #6 out of the way as this week will be a real challenge.

Re: What do we need to do to beat Mizzou?

    Score points 30+ on offense.

Must generate some level of QB pressure without blitzing every play. Mizzou is a dink and dunk team and those do not favor us at all.

    Way too early prediction:

    Mizzou 37

35plus points would help, that means a hot QB.
