Time to look at the football stats

2009 Overall Stats - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

ISU holds several 11th spots in the league on offense and defense. Bright spots are rushing, penalties allowed, sacks allowed, points allowed, turnover margin.

Looks like the turnovers aided by quick reaction and our big heart has put us in position to win games despite what the stats say.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

Wow, some of those stats are scary! Red Zone defense is a huge plus for us though!

We have 30 less sack yards than the 11th best team in that category, Baylor. That's bad. Half as many sacks as the top teams.

Re: Time to look at the football stats

The stat the matters the most is the number in the win column. I think the coaching staff should get a lot of credit in getting 6 wins when the stats don't necessarily show great success. The upside is that when those stats are on an upswing they will be having 8 to 10 win seasons. We have something to look forward to. To be where they are today is a great testiment to the quality of the coaching staff and getting the most out of our players. Lets beat Missouri and win a bowl game and have a good ending to this great turnaround.

I still can't believe the job that our coaches have done with this defense. Simply outstanding.

Watching CPR doing the "come here" with one finger was funny...you knew he was in trouble

Re: Time to look at the football stats

Looking at individual stats ARob is 2nd in the conference. 164 yards behind Thomas from KSU and has played 1 less game per their stats but in reality he's really played in 1.5-2 less games since he's only played in part of other games due to reaggrivating his groin. Thomas plays against Nebby next week so probably won't get many yards. That means if we can get ARob a 200 yard game to end the regular season he could be the conference's leading rusher!!! I know wishful thinking but it's possible and very deserving for such a hard working young man.
