Independence Bowl -- Iowa State vs. Auburn Possibilities

If Georgia holds on here, we'll assume that Saban takes Chizik to the woodshed next week. With an I-State victory over Mizzou, do you think the bowl situation plays out for a 7-5 ISU vs. a 7-5 Auburn?

I'd rather play a 7-5 Little 11 team in the Insight Bowl.

That would be fun. Sideline plays to a certain side of the field would be interesting.

I don't want any part of that match-up. I hope these players never have to see GC again.

Re: Independence Bowl -- Iowa State vs. Auburn Possibilities

I think as long as the ADs and teams are on board and it is reasonable both teams fit into this bowl, this is inevitable. This is a low level bowl and I think it is likely the best matchup they can come up with considering the teams remaining. However, teams can always reject bowls, so maybe one side or the other doesn't like it. I would think Jamie would be all over this matchup. He was as hurt as anyone with that whole situation. In my opinion, we should want this matchup. We have nothing to lose. If we lose, so what, we lost to a tradition rich team from the SEC with superior talent. However, if we win, we beat a team from what is considered to be a superior conference with superior talent. We win a game on a National stage. To top it all off, Chiz Whiz gets beat by the guys he left. I want this in the worst way and I think it is more likely to happen than not.

I bet the players have a different opinion. I really think they would love this. I can see it now, LJ conveniently runs a play out of bounds and stumble into the Chiz Whiz.

Who do you want us to play? Purdue? This game gives us the biggest audience. It is a SEC team in SEC land. It is our best exposure aside from the Chiz deal. I would rather play any SEC team than a Big Ten Team.

I'm really hoping we won't catch a team anywhere near that caliber ... I mean list our wins, other than Nebraska it's not a rocking resume.

Unless the passing offense puts something together next week, then I'll reconsider.

I do not see this happening. Mizzou will be a tall task. Our offense needs to produce more points in order to beat them. I honestly see us going to New Mexico or Detroit.

Leaving Chizik out of it, ISU would be playing an SEC program with a storied history. That's a great opportunity.

I just hope the players share your enthusiasm. I don't know, but I'm willing to bet there may still be some players that have some respect for that guy. Not that they'd play any easier, or take Auburn any lighter, but they might not have that killer instinct in 'em that "should" be there.
