    fannies in the stands...

hate to bring up the topic again, but I haven't seen anything on attendance. The crowd seemed pretty into it via my computer speakers, but was it better than last week I hope?

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

It was a good crowd. And it's a lot warmer when we're winning.

Crowd size seemed similar to last week, but were definitely more into it....of course, there was more to cheer for. Haven't heard the actual number yet.

43,000. I thought the crowd was very good, and most of them stuck around until the end.

I thought so, too. Definitely into the game around me, and no one left early (unless they had an infant, which is very understandable).

OOOOoooo I like that word better.

I'm sorry, but it's very, very disappointing to see a ton of the stadium empty in a winnable game for bowl eligibility. The tailgating scene was DEFINITELY pathetic.

    Re: fannies in the stands...

Andy Fales brought up a point this week on Murph and Andy, bewildered how fans can get so jacked up for a game vs. N. Dakota State in August that draws 50k, yet there are nearly 10k less in attendance for these late season games when bowl eligibility is on the line. I share his bewilderment. I understand, crops need to be picked etc.. but how is it Iowa-fan farmers and Nebraska-fan farmers seem to fill their stadiums during harvest time? how many town-dwelling alumni are in the greater DM metro that don't go to games? I honestly don't think fingers should be pointed at the farmers for empty sections in JT.

I would agree with disappointing. Senior day, playing for bowl eligibility. Decent afternoon, little chilly, but pretty good for the last home game of the season, weather-wise.

After a coiuple seasons of CPR football, we'll see the crowds at the end of the season.

    Re: fannies in the stands...

Is it really the economy that is affecting some of our fans from coming our what??? I mean today's game when you think about it was probably one of the biggest if not the biggest game we've had in the past 2 season's because things were not gonna be looking good had we lost today...Also today was the last time anyone is gonna be able to watch football at the Jack until next years spring game. Just sayin

Official attendance was 43,208. Looked much better than last week. But still, with bowl eligibility on the line, it wasn't very good.

Crowd was into it and got very loud when they needed to.

    Re: fannies in the stands...

J Pollard brought this up a couple years ago that the alumni base who graduated in the 80s and 90s saw very bad football, and it's just not that big of deal to many, and the challenge to elevate the athletics is to get these people interested in football (the cash cow) again. It's a good observation... look at Indiana, I'm sure there is a core group of fans in hoosierland, just like those ISU fans here on CF, that are desperate to have a consistent winning football program and big-time atmosphere, but the culture of football just isn't where it needs to be to draw 50,000 per game. There will probably be 300 threads between now and next august talking about crowds, excitement for the upcoming season, predicted lineups, predicted records and scores, making up excuses why some games are poorly attended, and when JTS will get bowled in on the south side. Perhaps this really is the best we will do over the long term, except for the Iowa and kNU games annually? If crowds don't show up for games like today, when will they ever?

also, I realize the economy is limping right now, but seriously, weren't there any reasonably priced ticket deals for the game today? Last week in Denver, there were literally thousands of Steelers fans in town, many who made the trip from PA, and payed upwards of $400 a ticket from Broncos season ticket holders. How bad is the economy when people can drop coin for flights, hotels, and game tickets at $400?

    Re: fannies in the stands...

The crowd was fine - lots of schools would kill to have our attendance. Colorado isn't exactly a good draw for a sell-out.
We need to beat Iowa to get back some in-state credibility. Right now we're the little brother. Hopefully that will come next year.
