For those of us who haven't been following the latest recruiting news, can you direct us to some good information on Phillips (and other likely recruits, as well)?

DeMarcus is a very athletic combo guard that finishes at the rim. I watched him at the JUCO Jam in early October. Good first step and very good off the dribble. He has the ability to score in bunches at times. Not sure on his shooting but he is a very good slasher.

I'll have a complete story on Phillips on the CF front page sometime tomorrow to address it.

We will probably be looking for a 3/4 guy...Hopefully leaning toward the 4. Probably be a back up plan as getting Gilstap the 2nd year is option #1.

I decided last night that it would be a shame for Gilstrap not to get his 2nd year. And I also decided that the rule saying he can't have it is fairly stupid and not really looking out for the best interest of the student athlete. I'm not sure why it really matters if the kid wasn't in school for a year. He's not super old, he hasn't played professionally, he's not asking for an 8th year of eligibility. It just seems like a dumb-*** rule that ends up hurting a kid who is trying to make a future for himself.

But I am glad we are getting Phillips today and that the Barnes' debacle didn't hurt us with him. It was nice to see him having fun at hte game on Friday.

What in Iowa State's history makes you think Gilstrap will get a second year?

WHile I agree with everything you say. At the same time when did the NCAA start looking out for the Student Athlete. The NCAA looks out for itself. Student athlets are a concern waaayyyyy down the line.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.
