    Quote from Mac on Barnes

    In post game presser...

“It probably impacted me more than it did them,” Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott said after the game. “Harrison was just one of the guys to them. He’s been around our gym for three years and we’ve invested a lot in it. He decided that this wasn’t the place. That’s okay. Are we disappointed? Yes. I wish him all of the best but my focus has to be on the guys who are on my team and that want to be on my team. He chose not to be and that’s okay.”

I'm a bigger fan of Mac after seeing this.

Sounds almost exactly like what I would expect him to say. I really respect this man as our coach.

The more I think about it the more I hate it. How can you do that to a guy that has given you so much?

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

He’s been around our gym for three years and we’ve invested a lot in it.

This is the only thing that bothers me. At some point in his life I hope that HB is going to realize that one of the reasons he was such a hot recruit was because he has had access to a Iowa State facilities, coaches, players and probably more for the last three years. Sure he worked hard, but I bet he wouldn't be in the top 100 without all the support ISU has given him. Oh, well....football tomorrow.

Agreed. I said in another post, you're either with us or you're against us. I don't wish HB any ill-will, but I don't care what happens with his career from this point forward. I'm sure Mac is bummed, but focused now more than ever.

Disagree 100% HB has been a very good player for a long time. It definitely did not hurt, but that is not the reason he was a top recruit.

I was bummed with his post presser comment that his relationship with Roy was a huge factor in choosing UNC? What....last three years here meant nothing?

Here's to hoping the access he had to the team, the facilities and all the other stuff we gave this kid is slammed shut effective 3:15 this afternoon. We don't owe him anything any longer. Let him drive to Chapel Hill to practice until next year.

Re: Quote from Mac on Barnes

I too think we need to come together and rally behind Greg and not worry about Barnes. Barnes made his decision and walked all other those that "invested" a lot in him with no reward. When I read that, you know Greg is holding back a lot and would like to express a lot more but can't for good reasons. He was played hard.

I would really like to see this team catch a break and do some very good things this year and going forward. Greg has made changes in his approach and went all out and "invested" and partly created the number 1 recruit in the nation. He deserves our full support.

For being one of the guys, he sure stabbed "his guys" in the back by show boating today and kicking their team and coach in the sack. I highly doubt he's still one of the guys. I hope the current players rally around Greg and don't get all caught up in being "Barnes' **tch".

WOW. That is basically a nice way of saying... "Good luck, don't let the door hit you on the way out after everything we've done for you loser!".

I think GMac seriously believed he had a good shot as well. This had to hurt... and I will never get over the fact that Harrison CHOSE to do this to GMac literally just hours before opening night. That is cold hearted folks.

GMac is 100 times the person that Roy Williams is Harrison. I hope you enjoy playing for that ego maniac! GMac cares about you as a person Harrison. Roy will use you to get his next big contract and Coach of the Year honors... and after you leave... you'll mean nothing to him. I hope some day you regret how you treated GMac in this. You didn't have to choose ISU, but you didn't have to do this right before GMac's opening night performance for his team.
