    Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

Although the Tigers have made all-star center fielder Curtis Granderson available in trade, the Cubs have not pursued that avenue. At least not yet. Granderson, a lefty hitter with a rare power/speed/fielding combo of skills, has three years and $25.75 million left on his contract, plus a $13 million option for 2013 (an $11 million commitment considering the $2 million buyout), so the economics would play a factor for the payroll-watching Cubs. But given the ideal fit provided by the Chicago-area native, conversations between the teams appear inevitable. -- Chicago Sun-Times

Tigers shouldn't trade Granderson or Jackson but it seems like those are the 2 names floating about

Re: Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

New York Post - The Tigers have let GMs know that Curtis Granderson will be made available at the right price, an NL executive told The Post.

The Yankees would be highly interested in Granderson, who would be an upgrade over Melky Cabrera in center field and also give them a left-handed bat should Johnny Damon not return.

Re: Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

Cubs' GM Jim Hendry "absolutely" is interested in offering a prospect-heavy package to the Tigers for Curtis Granderson according to a source close to the team, says Phil Rogers of The Chicago Tribune. Yesterday we heard that the two sides were not yet in trade talks, but Rogers' source says that Hendry and Tigers' GM Dave Dombrowski "spoke about Granderson and other Tigers players during the GM meetings earlier in the week at the O'Hare Hilton."
So far we've heard that the Cubs, Angels, and Yankees have interest in the 28-year-old outfielder. Granderson hit .249/.327/.453 in 710 plate appearances this year, though ESPN's Keith Law says he's become just a platoon player because of his struggles against southpaws.

This won't happen simply because that would mean that we would have someone in the outfield that can play defense. That just doesn't seem to be in Hendry's game plan lately.

Re: Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

Chicago Tribune - The Cubs, according to team sources, are attempting to acquire Curtis Granderson, but aren't willing to part with top prospect Starlin Castro, a 19-year-old shortstop.

The Cubs would prefer to trade Milton Bradley before committing to Granderson, as his addition would force Kosuke Fukudome to move to right field, Bradley's position.

The Yankees and Angels have also been actively pursuing Granderson.

everyone needs to remember that granderson is pretty much a platoon player- can't hit the lefties...

This is the deal breaker right here. Bradley is owed 21 million if I'm not mistaken, not far off Granderson's 25, and with Lou wanting Kosuke to move back to right this would be a good it.

Re: Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

    Wrigley Field:
The Ricketts family, who completed the sale of the team in late October, took a tour of the ballpark from top to bottom, examining everything from the washrooms to the players' lounge to the scoreboard. There is currently work being done to upgrade some areas, and fans should notice better washrooms and concessions. Part of the process included Kenney doing a taste-test of hot dogs to find the best one.
Kenney said the family told him to "think long-term" in terms of improvements, rather than a quick fix.
The players should have a better weight room when they report in 2010. The umpires' dressing room is being relocated to create space for that.
The back of the scoreboard is being repaired and updated as well. There are no plans for a video scoreboard, but the team is looking into having replays and stats available for fans at the ballpark to use on their iPhones and other hand-held devices.
The team is negotiating with businesses to find a sponsor for the billboards which will be installed in left field. Kenney said the goal is to preserve the culture of Wrigley Field but also find ways to bring in more revenue. The team also plans on creating a club on the mezzanine level where Suites 1-6 are currently located. About 80 tickets will be available for that location, and fans will have access to their own concessions and a bar. The tickets will be sold as season tickets. Expect an announcement sometime after Christmas.

Re: Cubs may pursue Tiger's Granderson.

From Peter Gammons: To get Curtis Granderson, the Tigers asked the Cubs for Starlin Castro and two prospects. The Cubs considered that to be too high a price.
