    Wow, that is really interesting.

    Here is another question to throw out there: why do we see a lot of Division 1 and division 3 programs? I see hardly any schools as Div. 2.

    Not really that big of a "wow"...they never had football and their basketball program has never really been a money maker so their athletic debartment has always struggled. Throw in Katrina and the aftermath and the only real surprise is that this is just now being considered. My son played with a kid that is a freshman on their BB team this fall...what do they do with scholarship guys if they drop to DIII...let them transfer?



    I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

    Very good question. I grew up in Kansas and the majority were Div II but nationally that is not the case. It may have something to do with $ as there are scholarships available at the Div II level. I'd like to hear from someone in the know.
