    Wells Fargo Bill Pay Service

Anyone have any experience using this servie to either make or recieve payment? I have a company that owes me money and they are claiming they have submitted payment using Wells Fargo but it can take up to 10 days. Sounds like a modern version of "The checks in the mail"

It does happen that way. I use it to pay bills, and it's not instant.

Don't get me started on Wells Fargo....

Let's just say I once had them hold a 401K disbersment check for the allowable maxim federal period....a rediculous amount of time... Nothing like having money in your account but not being able to touch it.

I use WF Billpay exclusively. Wells fargo is a great bank if you never have to deal with a person - their online stuff is pretty slick.

For about 20% of my "payees" they have a 2 day expected delivery time, for the other 80% they ask for 5 days.

I did notice that ACS student loan was taking the full 5 days to get paid - paying individuals seems to take the full five days as well. Most other payments average 2-3 days from Wells paying it to the company recieving it.

I'd guess you're looking at 5 days ... 10 is probably just CYA.

Re: Wells Fargo Bill Pay Service

    This is from their website:

Delivery Time: Delivery time is how long it takes for a payment to arrive at a payee. Depending on the payee, payments take either up to three or five business days to arrive (Day 1 is the business day following the Payment Send on Date.) Electronic payments take up to three business days. For payees who cannot accept electronic payments, typically individuals or small companies, we send a paper check that takes up to five business days to arrive.
To ensure on-time payments, be sure to consider delivery time when you schedule your payments. We also offer a Payment Guarantee.
6 days is probably the max I'd say would be legit. So taking in weekends, 10 could be true.

Re: Wells Fargo Bill Pay Service

I have used Wells Fargo Bill Pay extensively in both personal and business applications. It is true that WF estimates 5 days for deliver to some payees, but Bill Pay also allows you to schedule when you want your payment sent.

Some people/companies will claim that it is WF causing the delay on Nov. 11 when actually they have the payment scheduled within Bill Pay to be sent on Nov. 30. If the problem persists, I would request that they print the payment confirmation from the WF Bill Pay website and either fax it to you or e-mail it to you.

I'm not a WF customer but do use another bill pay service, and remind you to check the date you entered for the bill to be paid. One time I couldn't understand why a bill hadn't been paid. When I called to ask, they looked and told me I'd entered the year 3009 rather than 2009. Good thing I had time to correct it before the payment became late.

Our bill pay page says this, "The pay date is the date on which your payee will receive the payment. To avoid late payments please be sure to select pay dates on or before your billís due date. Remember, some billers may take several days to post the payment to your account. Please factor that time into your selection of the pay date."
