    Brent Blum

Does anyone know if Brent Blum has moved back to Iowa, or is he just visiting? Thought he worked for the Magic down in Orlando.
I wasn't able to make it to the womens' game Sunday, but it was so refreshing to hear his excellent play-by-play on the radio. I only wish he was our permanent announcer.

Brent is back in Des Moines working with the Iowa Energy.

I listened too. He did a great job.

Brent has always been great at doing games on the radio. As somebody who has a little experience on air I can say it's a lot tougher than it sounds and I absolutely suck at it.

Never having heard you, I can definitively say you are better than Ed Podolak.

    Re: Brent Blum

I, too, think he is much better than in the past. Perhaps he's been able to listen to recordings of himself and others. There is a real art to sounding at ease even when you're reading scripted items.

However, according to his LinkedIn page, he's an account executive for Iowa Energy.

Also, I thought I read his name somewhere in the Energy's promotion for ISU, UI and UNI fans who buy Energy season tickets. It has to do with football bowl game invitation/winning depending on the school.

I couldn't agree more, Blum does a great job announcing on the radio.

    This.

I would love to see Brent groomed to take over for John or Eric when one of them chooses to step down. Remember him calling part of a game a few years ago, and loved it. His pieces in the Daily always cracked me up.

    Re: Brent Blum

I thought Brent did a good job, but I'm perfectly happy with Rich Fellingham. No offense to Molly Parrott or other recent color commentators, but ISU WBB radio was at its best when Rich did pbp and BJ Schaben did color.

    Re: Brent Blum

I liked Brent's calling of the game, but I'm so used to Rich that I missed him doing it as.

As for Molly, yeah BJ was a good color analyst.

Great to hear Brent is back in town. It's a good scenario for Cyclone fans to have two guys (Chris and Brent) that are home grown Cyclones and sticking around.

Brent won the Mediacom "You Make the Call" contest a few years back. Came down to the two of us in the finals.
