MU Players Only Meeting - FB

Some interesting quotes in the KC Star about a meeting the MU FB team had Sunday after losing to Baylor at home after being 2 time defending North champions.

The article was kind of confusing. At one time, it said it was a players only meeting, but then it talked about some of the coaches speaking to the team.

    Anyway, check out these quotes:

"Maybe there are some people here that really don't want to be here," senior defensive end Brian Coulter said that was the message from defensive coordinator Dave Steckel and head coach Gary Pinkel. "Maybe they have a problem with the coaching staff, or maybe some other players." "Ya'll know the ones I'm talking to."

Maybe I am reading too much into to it, but it sounds a little like the panic button has been pressed at MU. I would be a little disappointed to hear coach Rhoads address the team in this manner. If coach thought there were some kids not with the program, best to meet individually and lay it out.

There was also discussion in the article about some players not attending class -- just kind of an overall lack of discipline/arrogance.

Anyway, can't be bad for ISU to have MU and CU hitting some rough patches.

Appears to be some hard feelings down there. It sounds like the perfect time to go down there and kick them in their face at their home like they did to us last season.

Some people still had Missouri winning the North after starting 0-3. I was extremely happy to see them lose to Baylor; hopefully they pack it up and having nothing to play for when we roll into Columbia.

Although, they had nothing to play for when they came to Ames in 2004, and we had everything to play for, and look how that turned out.

Interesting. I am surprised that there is this much turmoil just a year after they were playing so well. I expected some fall out from having a new QB, but I am surprised if people are jumping ship already.

Any turmoil at MU is good for ISU though.

I read that and see the opposite affect. Those guys aren't packing it in. They are trying to regroup and then win their next few games and onto their bowl game. Not panicking at all

I had heard earlier that their was some in-fighting going on with players throwing team mates under the bus on various twitter accounts.

It also sounds like that they had meetings/practice for a good a share of the day so maybe Pinkel needs to brush up on the allowable weekly contact hours for his team.

Hopefully Kstate beats them this weekend and they just roll over and die against us.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

MU Fans have all but forgotten about the Tigers. Poor weather when they play ISU would equal little fan support that day.

Tough fall for them, but could kinda see it coming. Daniels was special quarterback. I don't think Pinkel has ever been a player favorite.

They always plays us tough and we aren't good enough to go anywhere and dominate anyone.

I think it will be a tough game.

Mizzou had to replace both coordinators this season so there could easily be some trouble adjusting to changes from both the players and other staff members.

Now we need ISU to come out and play with some urgency and emotion, which in my opinion was lacking against OKST.
Rhodes needs a " I am so proud to be your coach" speech before the game.

I get the feeling that most losses to Baylor are followed by players only meetings. Especially losses to them at home.

Turmoil at the Tuff as Rain program is always nice to see. They're struggling just like many thought they would after losing their QB and top receiver/playmaker. They'll be back to being the good ol' Mizzou we all remember soon enough.

It's amazing how fast egos grow when you start winning a couple years. You'd think MU has been North contenders for the last 30 years.
