Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Re: Senior Day on Saturday

Great group of guys!!! I hope they will win their last game at the Jack and have a great memory of Saturday!
Parker might be back and what about Houston Jones?? I didn't realize he is a senior. Did he even play this year due to his injury?? Possibly a medical redshirt?

I'll be at the game cheering them on. These guys went through two coaching changes.

    Re: Senior Day on Saturday

While every player that commits to the program is an important loss, here's how I would say the seniors rank in terms who is going to be hardest to replace next year:

    Christopher Lyle...wow, he's played lights-out this year
Jesse Smith...all the kid has heard is too small too slow...as he makes play after play
Marquis Hamilton...going into the year, I thought we had alot of depth and talent. What we have is one very solid and THE key go to guy to replace next year
Nate Frere...not a star but a solid player at a position that we'r pretty weak at in terms of depth
James Smith...just a demolisher back at safety. He's had his moments against the deep pass, but our defense is dramatically better with him on the field this year
Reggie Stephens...Reggie is the anchor of the most talented position group on the team. His leadership will be tough to replace
Fred Garrin...a bit undersized but has made marked improvement this year and is really filling holes nicely right now
Josh Raven...another undersized guy that plays his heart out. He's got the speed to make big plays he just hasn't made enough
Mike Brandtner...would have been higher after last year. Still, it's tough to replace a senior punter
Kennard Banks...a solid hitter just doesn't want to wrap up. Plays short passes well just gets beat too often but he's on the field for a reason
Derrick Catlett...he's had some big plays for ISU, but Franklin is a better prospect

Rashawn Parker...he'll be back next year

    The rest...thanks for your service

All in all, that's a sad list to look at. We're looking at a ton of 2 and 3 year starters, especially on defense. Someone get me off the cliff regarding how we're going to keep teams from putting 50 on us next year after losing that much talent.

    Re: Senior Day on Saturday

Good call Istate on Kennard...he looks more like an NHL defensemen trying to make a big hit instead of wrapping up.

Not saying I could, but I didn't go to school for free either.

2 more games guys, 7-5 is possilbe!!

    Re: Senior Day on Saturday

I always get a little choked up on seniors day. Maybe it's the finality of it all and the fact that most will never get to play again. I think back to my HS playing days, and about how much I still miss it even 20+ years later. Yes, there is more to life to love and enjoy besides football, but still, as the immortal Eddie Money sang:

"I wanna go back, and do it all over, but I can't go back, I know."

Thanks seniors - and be sure to enjoy the rest of the ride.

thank you seniors, we will miss you!! chris lyle has really stepped it up this year. jesse smith has been a beast his entire career!! james smith has been amazing. any of these guys have a shot at the nfl??? i think marquis will possibly get a shot in the cfl but not the nfl. brandtner has a shot, garrin and james smith may get a shot, jesse smith is too small for the nfl, and reggie should get drafted late rounds
