    FB predictions...again

yeah i know, i'm sorry this has been discussed before but I am so bored at work. and everyone loves a good poll. so here it is, a long with a little commentary for ya.

I think 7-5 is very, very, very attainable. Especially since I think Missouri, and Tech are beatable. Maybe we'll drop a game somewhere, but we can certainly pick one up a long the way too.

    Re: FB predictions...again

I am not going into the season with any win-loss expectations. Do I think we could hit 7-5, maybe.

What I want to see is a more efficient and effective team with heart. I want to see solid game day decisions that are focused on winning games, and not focused trying not to lose a game.

No poll attached? I think 6-6 is a very reachable goal for this team. We've got playmakers and it sounds like we're getting the right attitude. Watch out!

I really believe we can win 6 or 7 because no one last year, played to their potential.

Mac could coach the 2007 team to 5 wins so I hope by us firing him and hiring all these great assistants we can at least win one more game.

obviously a few did, but I emphasize FEW

you could add McKenzie and Curvey (when he wasn't double teamed) but they're both gone

    Re: FB predictions...again

Culver should step down any way... but that's another rant 6-7 wins is a good estimate our o-line will be better because Blaes & McMahon are beasts our d- line will be better simply because they are bigger.

"Day after day, situation after situation you do things the right way. If you do things the right way, in life, you are going to be successful. I'm not just your football coach; I'm not just here to win games. I could not be prouder of who we are and who we are becoming, together. You do things right in the classroom, off and on the field; that's whats's makes us Cyclones and that's what our culture's all about."

Wins - Kent St., UNI, Toledo, Kansas, Colorado
    Lose - Oklahoma, Texas
Toss Up - Nebraska, K State, Mizzou, Tex Tech, Squawks

Gotta think that we can win at least one of those toss-ups to get to 6-6.

Squaks will be history next year. Their fans will not be attending the JTS game.

Is that kind of how he coached the 2006 team to the 7-9 wins everyone on here, except me (I knew he was good for at least 1-2 losses by being a bad coach).

I have absolutly NO idea how you could have seen McCarney winning 5 games next season. I think that Gene may be able to win 5, but I have my doubts, all depending on the line play. There is no way the incompetence that we saw on the sidelines over the past 12 years could win 5 games with this schedule.

    Re: FB predictions...again

yeah, I'm really having a hard time seeing more than 5 wins. It seems every year, without fail, around spring you see this burst of message board over-optimism. I've been caught up in it the last two years (last year especially) and all I found is that getting my hopes too high just makes the season worse if the results on the field don't live up to the hype. Do I think we have the talent and coaching to win 7 games? Maybe, but its going to be hard for Chizik to take guys that have been in another system for so long, and just mold them to his style immediately. I think even though we'll only win 5 games, we'll play those 7 losses a hell of a lot closer than we did a year ago. While the win-loss column won't look a lot different, I think the product on the field will be superior, similar to this basketball season. The future still looks bright!

    Re: FB predictions...again

I'm going with 5 wins right now. I don't think this team is as talented as we all made it out to be, we are putting in a new system, and I still think we have some big holes to fill. Just because we got some beefy juco OL doesn't mean that our problem there is solved. We had some beef there last year and they were all too soft. Our defensive line still has questions too, games are won in the trenches and right now I think that is our biggest area of concern.

I would count Kansas and Colorado in the toss-up category. Not sure that Nebraska and Iowa count in the Toss-up category either . . . certainly not guaranteed losses, but we'll be underdogs for sure.

Personally, I think we'll win 5 or 6 games, but the only thing that would shock me is if we won 9+.
