    Iowa City to Ames

I live in Iowa City and unfortunatley wont be able to leave town for the game until about noon. Does anyone know the fastest way to go to Ames from this part of the state? The two most obvious options are either 80 to 35, or 380 to highway 30. Any tips?

I've done that trip 8 million times, and for me it always seemed 80 to 35 was the quickest.

Can't really imagine any other options, unless you want to be complicated and do something like 80 west to 14 north, and get on Hwy 30 at Marshalltown. I'm really reaching for creative options there.

I imagine ye olde interstate is the quickest way.

By far 80 to 35, it shouldn't take anymore than 2 hours.

Sounds good, thanks for the help. I really don't want to miss kickoff, and god willing, maybe throw down a breskie before the game!

    Re: Iowa City to Ames

Like SplitIdentity, I've made that trip literally hundreds of times and the interstates are definitely the fastest.

Now, depending on the day, 80/35 may not be the easiest drive, or the safest, but they have always been the quickest. On home football game days (or any other massive event in IC/Ames/DSM) or in inclement weather, 30/380 is likely to have far less traffic on it. You'll go slower, since it is just a bit longer of a drive, but you won't have to expend mental energy by being on high alert for 2 straight hours. I've done that a few times to avoid interstate craziness.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
