Duke Bringing in Roscoe Smith This Weekend

I just got a tip from one of my national basketball recruiting contacts that Roscoe Smith, a 6-7, 185 pound four-star prospect out of Oak Hill Academy is visiting Duke this weekend. I've been told that Smith is Barnes' back-up plan in Durham.

I don't think we can read into this a ton when talking HB and Iowa State but obviously Duke is looking elsewhere. Again, I'm sure they'd take HB over him should Harrison make that decision.

Coach K is either playing hard ball or planning ahead.

UNC already has a 5* wing commit.

KU has a 3* wing commit. KU is probably in trouble next year on the wing (again) if they don't get Barnes and Henry bolts for the NBA, because I'm not seeing much as far as back up options.

Hardball? That's not it...doesn't make sense.

I would guess planning ahead, just like we supposedly are.

Seems kind of last minute to me to be "just a back-up plan".

Re: Duke Bringing in Roscoe Smith This Weekend

He is just coming in for a visit right? Not really news at all...

It's not like a school/coach is going to say to a 4* prospect, "No, sorry, we don't want you to visit." (Unless there is some underlying reason..)

I was trying to look at the label on Williams' tie. I am sure that is an expensive tie....

The plot thickens. I assume schools are limited as to the number of official visitors they can have right? If so, it seems odd to bring your backup in just a week before your top recruit makes his decision.

I spent a little time on the free rivals board for Duke today and they didn't like the fact that K went to watch Roscoe. I'm sure they don't love the fact he might be visiting.

Of course, Harrison seems unusually disciplined in keeping his mouth shut about who is favoring. Kihatehim probably isn't used to that.
