    Gameday Weather

From the looks of it right now, it seems like we will have an awesome Saturday to tailgate and watch football. Most stations are predicting a mostly sunny day with highs in the mid-upper 60's.
For those of you wishing for a rainy-cold day, I don't think that is going to happen.
If the forecast sticks, I'd expect a nice crowd on Saturday!

    Re: Gameday Weather

    1) GREAT fall weather forecasted.
    2) Conference matchup against a Top 25 team.
    3) Televised game on ABC.
    4) A win gets us bowl eligibility.
    5) One of only two opportunities left to tailgate for the year.
    6) Possibility to finally watch our offense fire on all cylinders with everyone back.

NO REASON why we shouldn't have a great crowd on hand for Saturday. Let's show our team (and everyone watching on ABC) how much we support them- Pack The Jack!!!

I don't like it. I'd rather it was in the low 30s. Freeze the OSU players' balls off.

I never really did understand this type of mentality. Are our players somehow immune to cold weather? Or, do our players play in little bubbles that are protected from the environmental elements? Both teams are playing in the same weather, if It's effecting 1 team, you can darn bet its effecting the other. I've lived in the brutal midwest for 24 years, and I'm still not used to the cold. Let alone having to play football in it. If you think our players are accustomed to the cold weather more than OSU's, you'd be wrong. We have yet to play a truly "cold" game this year. I'm sure OSU has played at least one game where it's a little cool out. The weather will effect both teams the SAME. Not to mention after 5-8 plays they are sweating anyways.

At least in warm weather, the fans can sit and enjoy themselves rather than freezing their butts off. I always hated tailgating and watching football, while I can't feel my hands and feet.

    Re: Gameday Weather

Sorry, but some people sound like babies sometimes. I could care less what the weather is, its gonna be 60s and beautiful for tailgating? Great deal. That just a bonus for me, it could be -30 like it was some winter days last year with a windchill here in CF. I will make the trip, tailgate, and be in the Jack regardless. Here's an idea: WEAR warm clothes, and lots of layers of them if it's cold! I can't stand it when fans can't attend to cheer on their team when it's raining/snowing/too cold. WWAAHH. Seriously be in the stands and cheer your butt off! Like it's been said you won't even hafta worry, it's gonna be nice weather, ranked big 12 south team in our stadium on ABC going for the right to play in a bowl game. Shouldn't be an empty spot on a hillside...

The only reason I can see to want a cold weather game is that it might slow down some of the speedsters for OSU. Bad weather usually leads to more of a grind it out running game, which we might have an advantage in. Bad weather also makes the game less about overall talent, and more about who can handle the elements better.

I do agree that the weather effects both teams negatively, but sometimes it can be an equalizer.

I don't think we will need bad weather this weekend though.

I can understand that.. But, I also believe it takes a pretty cold day for that to happen. Like 20's and snow. I remember playing some dang cold games in high school where the water in the cups had a thin layer of ice on top and it was cold for the first couple of plays and when you stand on the sideline, but once you get into the game and start running around, you were sweating and hot as usual.

    Re: Gameday Weather

I never really bought into the cold weather advantage either. Most of our guys are from Texas and Floriday anyways, so unless we've had a lot of cold weather practice games, I don't see it making a big difference. I would be at the game this weekend even if it were 30 below and ice crystals were suspended in the air... but I'll take a 60+ day easily! The only problem is it may ruin our plans for chili, and we'll have to bring up the grill once more instead.

Bring both. I'm sure it will be chilly in the morning, so you can eat chili when you first get there, say around 7-8am. Then break out the grill for lunch and grill up some brats or a full rack of ribs, say around 12-1pm. Enjoy a couple more beers then head into the game. Then after the game, get the grill back out and have some dinner, or chili again, when it get colder during the evening.
I pretty much just planned out your whole day.

    Re: Gameday Weather

I will say that a 70 degree day for one of the last football games in Ames is not a bad recruiting tool.

68 degrees and Sunny OR 27 degrees and drizzle. Hmmmmmm

Now if the colorado game is the same that will go done as one of the best weather days ever.

    NDSU - Very nice.
Iowa - Very Nice (little Muddy from a light rain early though)
    ARMY - Absolutely Awesome weather
    K-State - Very Nice
Baylor - This was chilly, but not horrible.
Okie State - (forecasted) Sunny and around 70
Colorado - (forecasted) Sunny and around 50 (10 day forecast in Iowa is like playing poker though )

Gonna be windier than crap on Saturday. 20mph wind in DSM means 25-30 at JTS.

    I hate the damn wind.
