    Minnesota MBB discipline

Minnesota's basketball team is having some issues, suspending two guys we were once recruiting, Trevor Mbakwe and Royce White. Another, Devron Bostrick, has also been suspended.

My question is this: Royce White stole $100 of clothing from the Mall of America, pushed down the security guard twice, and resisted being handcuffed. He will likely miss only 2 games. Does this seem like light discipline to anyone else?

It appears that we actually won by losing the Royce White recruiting competition.

    Re: Minnesota MBB discipline

The Mbakwe "suspension" stems from the administration deciding to wait for the outcome of the assault case in Florida to resolve. Mbakwe is accused of assaulting a woman. She apparently identified him from the team photos online. Mbakwe apparently has several witnesses placing him at home when the assault allegedly occurred.

At first the administration was going to let him play, but changed their minds, probably for PR effect. Mbakwe can still practice and travel with the team but not dress for games.

Yeah, the punishment seems pretty tame compared to the infraction, but it fits pretty well with similar disciplinary actions enforced against his peers. Was it the school that suspended him for 2 games, or the NCAA?

The school did, and I should add that Tubby Smith is quoted that the suspension can be from 2 to 6 games, and Tubby said it could be 20 if they don't do what they need to to resolve the situations. But if I were a betting man, I'd say it will be 2 games.

I bet Jason Berryman wished he had only had a two game suspension.

Sooo glad we didn't end up landing Royce White.

Now he's a suspect for stealing a laptop from a dorm. This is literally days after the Mall of America incident. He's not going to last at Minny...or anywhere, I'm afraid.
